On 3 September, the Singapore Embassy in Manila and Temasek Foundation had the privilege to host dinner in honour of His Eminence Orlando Beltran Cardinal Quevedo, O.M.I., D.D., Archbishop Emeritus of Cotabato and recipient of the inaugural Harmony in Diversity Award — presented by Temasek Foundation in collaboration with the 5P Global Movement in July 2026 in recognition of his decades of exemplary leadership in peacebuilding, interfaith dialogue, and social cohesion across the Philippines.

The evening brought together over 60 leaders from the public service - including Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament Speaker Hon. Mohammad S. Yacob, PhD, Deputy Floor Leader Hon. Suharto Ambolodto, Cotabato 1st Representative Hon. Edwin Ledesma Cruzado, and QC Mayor Joy Belmonte - civil society, diplomatic community, and private sector, alongside friends and family of Cardinal Quevedo.

The highlight of the evening was Cardinal Quevedo's keynote address and fireside chat, in which he reflected on what it truly takes to build lasting peace: “Peace is not simply made by a handshake or by an embrace. A just and lasting peace is the fruit of love, love in the heart. Peace comes from the heart”. It was a powerful close to an evening that reaffirmed why the work of interfaith dialogue and peacebuilding remains as urgent and necessary as ever.

Congratulations once again to Cardinal Quevedo on this well-deserved recognition!

Ambassador Constance See called on Cabinet Secretary Benhur Abalos today and congratulated him on his appointment.

They had a wide-ranging conversation on Singapore-Philippines relations, developments in the Philippines, and how our two countries can work more closely together. Drawing on his many years in local government, Secretary Abalos shared his perspectives on tackling urban and environmental challenges, and the importance of ensuring policies work on the ground, for the people.

It was also good to hear about Secretary Abalos’ longstanding engagement with the Filipino community in Singapore and his efforts to bring people together.

We look forward to working with Secretary Abalos and his team, including in areas such as climate resilience, education and human capital development. 🇸🇬🇵🇭

Warmest congratulations to all the 2026 Ramon Magsaysay Awardees!

Established in 1957 in memory of the Philippines’ seventh President, Ramon Magsaysay, the Award recognises individuals and organisations whose work has made a significant contribution to Asia. There are three awardees for 2026, from Singapore, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

We are so proud that Professor Tommy Koh of Singapore has received this recognition. Professor Koh’s career has spanned more than five decades of diplomacy, international law and public service. As President of the Third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea, he played a key role in bringing the negotiations on the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea to a successful conclusion in 1982. He also chaired negotiations at the 1992 UN Earth Summit and, closer to home, chaired the High-Level Task Force that drafted the ASEAN Charter in 2007.

Beyond diplomacy, Professor Koh has also contributed to education and public discourse in Singapore, including as the founding Rector of Tembusu College at the National University of Singapore. His teaching and writing have brought questions of international law, diplomacy and Singapore’s place in the world to a much wider audience.

The Award comes as Professor Koh steps down today as Ambassador-at-Large at the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after 55 years of public service.

He is the fourth Singaporean recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award. Minister for National Development Lim Kim San received the award in 1965; Minister for Defence Goh Keng Swee in 1972 and Willing Hearts founder Tony Tay in 2017).

Congratulations, Professor Koh, on this significant recognition.

Ambassador Constance See joined the Growing Infrastructure Course (GIC) Alumni Meet and Networking Event in Manila on 26 August.

Organised by Singapore Government agency Infrastructure Asia, together with Singapore Management University and World Bank Group, the GIC has brought together nearly 500 participants from 18 countries across South and Southeast Asia, including more than 100 from the Philippines since its inception. This has helped build a growing community of officials and infrastructure practitioners in the Philippines with the knowledge and networks to take infrastructure projects from concept to implementation: from project preparation and regulation to financing, risk management and delivery.

Singapore is happy to contribute to building this community and connecting it with our wider infrastructure ecosystem of investors, companies and technical expertise.

Ambassador Constance See was delighted to reconnect with Filipino photographer George Gascon at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila’s Behind the Lens: Cultural and Border Crossings, 1950–2000s exhibition, together with his wife Sylvia and Museum President Tina Colayco. George is one of four Filipino photographers featured in the exhibition, alongside F. Sionil Jose, Romeo Gacad and Xyza Cruz Bacani, whose lives and work have crossed borders 📸

George spent a decade in Singapore as a photojournalist with The Straits Times newspaper. He also photographed Mr Lee Kuan Yew extensively. His photographs appeared in Lee Kuan Yew: The Man and His Ideas and on the cover of Mr Lee’s memoir, The Singapore Story.

It was a lovely reunion as Ambassador had briefly worked with George when she was a young newspaper intern. George is now happily retired in the Philippines.

It was wonderful to catch up with George in Manila. It is friendships and personal connections that make our bilateral ties so special 🇸🇬🇵🇭

Today we welcome a special addition to our Embassy! ✈️🎨

Singapore Airlines has gifted Flight, an original sculpture by Filipino artist Impy Pilapil, to the Singapore Embassy.

This year marks 60 years of SIA operations in the Philippines. Over the decades, SIA has connected generations of Singaporeans and Filipinos, brought our economies closer, and strengthened the ties between our two countries. 🇸🇬🇵🇭

Flight, created in 2015 and previously displayed at SIA’s SilverKris Lounge in NAIA Terminal 3, is now proudly displayed in our Embassy foyer alongside other artworks.

We are delighted to give Flight a new home and proud to continue showcasing the talent of Filipino artists.
