JOINT CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON HISTORICAL HERITAGE ZONES AND DATU BAGO LANDMARK PROPOSAL

The City Muslim Affairs Office (CMAO) successfully conducted a Joint Consultative Meeting on Historical Heritage Zones and the Datu Bago Landmark Proposal on August 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the SPM Conference Room.

The consultation brought together representatives from the Cacasi Clan, Pangalawan Clan, Bai Siddiq, Bai Tinaytay, and Paramaynan, along with representatives from the City Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Heritage Management Office (CTACHMO), Brgy. Pagsabangan IPMR, BIA JESSICA ADO and Brgy. Councilor Hon. Datu RACID G. PANDACAN .

The meeting focused on the proposed Heritage Zones and Historical Site Documentation for 2026–2027, including the documentation of oral histories, family lineages (Tarsila), key informants, and significant historical sites. Discussions also covered the proposed construction and establishment of the Datu Bago Landmark in Barangay Pagsabangan.

The CMAO sincerely acknowledges and grateful for the presence and support of Hon. Councilor ARTHUR "Uloy" ONG, as well as participation of all clan representatives, offices, and stakeholders who contributed their knowledge, insights, and perspectives throughout the consultation.

This meaningful gathering reflects a shared commitment to preserving our history, genealogy, cultural heritage, and community narratives and ensuring that the legacy of our ancestors is accurately documented and respectfully carried forward for future generations.

The City Muslim Affairs Office, in partnership with the Civil Registrar Tagum, invites our Muslim brothers and sisters, Indigenous Peoples (IPs), and families from marginalized sectors to participate in the upcoming Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) and Other Civil Registry Services.

If you or anyone you know has unregistered birth certificates or needs help fixing problematic civil registry documents, please take note of the following schedule:

On June 19, 2026, a courtesy meeting and welcoming activity was held in recognition of their achievement and commitment to advancing Arabic education within our communities. Present during the gathering were the President of the Tagum Association of Arabic Education Facilitators (TAArEF), together with the Head and Administrative personnel of the City Muslim Affairs Office, who conveyed their support and encouragement to the new educators as they embark on their noble responsibility of imparting knowledge and nurturing future generations.

On June 7, 2026, the Tagum Association of Arabic Education Facilitators (TAArEF) together with the City Muslim Affairs Office, successfully conducted its General Assembly & Testimonial Program, bringing together Arabic educators and facilitators from various Community-Based Madaris across Tagum City.

The assembly served as an important platform for discussing matters concerning the development of Arabic and Islamic education, updates on programs and activities, and strengthening collaboration among educators in advancing quality Madrasah instruction within the community.

A highlight of the gathering was the recognition and honoring of retired Arabic educators who dedicated many years of faithful service in nurturing generations of learners through Madrasah education. Their commitment, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions to the promotion of Islamic knowledge have left a lasting impact on the Muslim community of Tagum City.
