"The future of libraries is not about replacing librarians with AI. It is about librarians adapting to technology, using it wisely and ethically, and always keeping our users' needs at the center."

With this guiding principle, the UM-LIC successfully conducted its Annual Echo Seminar, reaffirming its commitment to continuous learning, professional growth, and innovation in library and information services.
The online seminar served as a valuable platform for our librarians to share the knowledge, best practices, and emerging trends they gained from local and international conferences, seminars, and training sessions attended over the past year.

Among the insightful topics presented were:
๐Ÿค– Predictive Power of AI Dependence and Digital Competence on Filipino Academic Librarians' Research Capability | Presented by Ms. Neirese Jane Bano

๐Ÿ“– Bridging Knowledge: Librarians' Evolving Role in Research and Writing Support | Presented by Mr. Michael Anino

๐Ÿ’พ Challenges, Trends, and Best Practices in Digital Preservation | Presented by Ms. Arsel Rose Tumulac
..along with several other timely and relevant presentations that highlighted the evolving roles of librarians in today's rapidly changing information landscape.

A special highlight of the virtual learning session was the sharing session of Ms. Brigida Bacani, Director of the LIC, who reflected on her enriching experience during the ERASMUS+ Staff Training in Latvia. Her insights on international collaboration, innovation, and global best practices inspired the Librarians and staff to embrace lifelong learning and excellence in librarianship continuously.

As libraries continue to evolve, so do librarians. We adapt to new technologies, embrace innovation, and remain steadfast in our mission to empower learners and communities.

Our heartfelt gratitude also to the UM Administration for this endeavour, especially to HRMD for facilitating the session.

The UM Tagum College - Learning and Information Center (LIC), in collaboration with the Community Extension Center (CEC) and the Faculty Library Action Committee (FLAC), proudly celebrates the successful title defense of the Institutional Research entitled, "An Evaluative Study on Adopt-A-Library: Aklatan para sa Magandang Kinabukasan Project at Mabaus Elementary School."

This collaborative undertaking reflects our shared commitment to advancing research, innovation, and evidence-based practices that contribute to academic excellence and meaningful community engagement.

The research was successfully presented by Mr. Earl Jones G. Muico, Ms. Clarissa R. Donayre, Engr. Ariel V. Ando, Ms. Princess Gay C. Hembra, and Dr. Cyril V. Dampog, whose dedication and expertise continue to strengthen the University's culture of research and extension.
