HAPPY INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN UP DAY! 🌊🎉🙌🏻

‎A total of 11,375.40 kilos or 11.3 tons of garbage were collected from our coastal areas!

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office would like to thank all volunteers who join the this meaningful InternationalCoastal Clean Up 2026 : Clean Seas for Resilient Communities.

Our 7 coastal barangays : Pooc, Biasong, Dumlog, Poblacion, Cansojong, Tanke, and San Roque, brgy captains and officials, SK, and sectoral communities - fisherfolks, tanod, BHWs, Women; our partner agencies: DENR-CENRO, NGCP,, BFP, PCG, BJMP, Pagtambayayong Inc., our LDRRMO; our private sectors : Citadine Hotels and Lyf, GHD, Somerset Gorordo; our academe: TCC Apex and TCNHS BREATHE Club 💓

Within the last month, Talisay City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) successfully conducted a series of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with six coastal barangays, with a focus on Talisay City's four Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). Dumlog, Biasong, Poblacion, San Roque, Tangke and Pooc were all selected to participate as each barangay has an MPA located within its coastal boundaries.

FGDs are paramount as they serve as platforms for meaningful dialogue and consultations with fisherfolk, local stakeholders, representatives from women's organizations, youth, barangay officials, NGO representatives, and other relevant sectors. Through these discussions, participants have the chance to express concerns, experiences, observations, challenges, and recommendations concerning the management, conservation, and protection of the City's coastal and marine resources.

The data acquired in these seminars will contribute to the identification of appropriate strategies, programs, and management interventions that align with the actual needs and conditions of local communities.

The active participation and valuable contributions of the residents and stakeholders are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your continued support and commitment toward a more participatory and resilient coastal future of Talisay City!

On August 5th, 2026, Talisay CENRO members were ecstatic to support the coastal clean up facilitated by NGO Better With Water. All together, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Office, community members of Sitio Sambagan, Barangay Tanke officials, Philiippine army and police, collected 31 sacks or 6805 kilos of trash!

For more than 100 million years, sea turtles have crossed vast oceans, survived natural changes in the Earth, and returned to the very beaches where they were born. Yet today, many face growing threats from marine pollution, habitat degradation, coastal development, illegal wildlife exploitation, and accidental capture in fishing activities.

The Philippines is home to five of the world's seven marine turtle species: the Green Turtle, Hawksbill Turtle, Olive Ridley Turtle, Loggerhead Turtle, and Leatherback Turtle. Our country's beaches, seagrass beds, coral reefs, and coastal waters serve as important nesting, feeding, and migratory habitats for these remarkable marine animals. Notable nesting and foraging areas can be found across the archipelago, including the Turtle Islands Wildlife Sanctuary in Tawi-Tawi, one of the most important nesting grounds for Green Turtles in Southeast Asia.

Sea turtles play a vital role in maintaining healthy marine ecosystems. By grazing on seagrass beds and supporting the balance of coral reef communities, they help sustain the habitats that support fisheries, biodiversity, and coastal livelihoods.

This 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲, let us work together to keep our oceans clean, protect critical habitats, and ensure that future generations will continue to witness pawikans making their timeless journey across Philippine seas.

Because every nest protected, every turtle rescued, and every beach conserved brings them one step closer to home.
