The activity was initiated as part of the Provincial Ordinance 2016-21, which requires all quarry and mineral extraction permit holders to plant one tree seedling for every cubic meter of extracted resources in host and nearby communities.

Mining and quarrying activities often result in:
- vegetation loss
- soil degradation
- habitat destruction
leading to problems such as erosion, declining biodiversity, and increased flooding.

Tree planting helps:
- rehabilitate affected areas
- enhance soil stability
- protect watersheds
- strengthen community resilience.

The ordinance promotes environmental accountability amongst operators while fostering community involvement and supporting long-term sustainability, ensuring that development is balanced with effective rehabilitation efforts.

Two planting sites were deemed viable for tree planting within Brgy. Jaclupan. Other potential areas are yet to be visited.

Great collaboration yesterday between Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF) , CENRO, Peace Corps, and the Bantay Dagat. Thanks to the efforts of our teams, we were able to install 4 boundary markers to mark our Marine Protected Area, Bogo Shoal, at the edge of Poblacion! These markers will prevent damages to boats, protect our corals and coastal ecosystems, and contribute to fish population growth.

We will work to clearly mark the MPAs in Pooc (Makatol Reef), and Tangke (Pungaton Reef).

On January 27th, CENRO and Fisheries headed down to Naga City for the Distribution of Agri-Fishery Inputs as part of the FAITH program (Food Always In The House), led by our Provincial Governor Baricuatro. We were accompanied by our Bantay Dagat and Jaclupan farmers to receive materials for our MPA buoy markers. The materials will be very helpful in marking the boundaries of our MPAs, to protect our biodiversity hotspots, to prevent collision between coral reefs and boats, and to support our fisherfolk.

In the aftermath of Typhoon Tino, affected people living by / in coastline barangays are gathering the remains of their homes and slowly rebuilding their lives. Many fisherfolk hailing from Dumlog, Pooc, Poblacion, and Biasong have been visiting the CENRO office for damage assessment of boating equipment; the livelihood of many in the community depends on the ability to fish. Fortunately, fisherfolk were already registered within their respective fisherfolk organization, ensuring the possibility of government assistance for losses. Through PCIC insurance, fisherfolk were able to avail assistance.
