On May 29, 2026, the Talisay City Jail โ€“ Female Dormitory, under the leadership of JCINSP MARICEL MIJARES, successfully held the event entitled โ€œRunway for Change: A Fashion Show for a Causeโ€ at Talisay City Plaza.

The event served as a meaningful platform to showcase the creativity, talents, and skills of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), highlighting the transformative impact of the facilityโ€™s rehabilitation and livelihood programs. Featured collections included the Tri-Bureau Uniforms (BJMP, PNP, and BFP), Crocheted Collections handcrafted by PDLs, Casual Wear from Perfect Selections Boutique worn by the Queen Mother Organization complemented by PDL-made bag designs, CSWD sector presentations in advocacy-inspired and fantasy attire, and elegant Tuxedos and Gowns from Perfect Selections worn by all participating models. Each segment reflected dignity, empowerment, and the journey toward positive transformation.

The program was further enriched by inspirational messages from esteemed community leaders; JSUPT ELSIE EIREEN R ALCOMENDRAS, Chief, RWDD and Hon. Danilo Caballero, City Councilor. A heartfelt presentation from the beneficiaryโ€”Our Lady of Divine Providence Home with the newly installed center director Sr. Delia Abadaโ€”along with captivating performances from guest entertainers. The event was made more impactful through the unwavering support of sponsors, partners, stakeholders, and volunteers who shared in its vision of hope and social transformation.

Most importantly, the activity successfully generated funds which will be allocated to sustain the needs and welfare of the beneficiaries which is the Our Lady of Divine Providence Home and the children of the PDL of Talisay City Jail โ€“ FD. The success of this fundraising activity reflects the strong collaboration and support of government agencies, private organizations, community partners, and individuals who share the common goal of promoting rehabilitation, empowerment, and positive transformation among PDLs.

On May 26, 2026, the Talisay City Jail โ€“ Female Dormitory, under the leadership of JCINSP MARICEL MIJARES, in partnership with Cebu Technical Vocational Training and Assessment Academy, Inc. (VOCTECH), proudly produced three (3) graduates of the vocational course in ICT Computer Systems Servicing.

The graduates formally received their diplomas from Mr. Pedro V. Sandalo Jr., VOCTECH President, together with SJO2 Dennis Fuentes, Assistant Jail Warden, and assisted by SJO4 Nanette L. Bolodo, Deputy Chief RWDD.

This meaningful achievement was celebrated alongside the graduatesโ€™ families and BJMP personnel, emphasizing the vital role of education, rehabilitation, and skills development program in empowering Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) to rebuild their lives and prepare for a brighter and more productive future.

On May 21, 2026, the Talisay City Jail โ€“ Female Dormitory, under the leadership of JCINSP MARICEL MIJARES, in partnership with TESDA Minglanilla, successfully conducted a Skills Enhancement Training on Housekeeping Services focusing on Table Napkin Folding and Table Skirting for fifteen (15) female Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

Through hands-on demonstrations and practical activities, participants learned proper table presentation, creative napkin folding techniques, and table skirting installation commonly used in hotels, restaurants, and special events. More than acquiring technical skills, the activity also nurtured creativity, discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence among the participants.

This initiative reflects the continuing commitment of Talisay City Jail โ€“ Female Dormitory and TESDA Minglanilla in empowering female PDL through rehabilitation, livelihood opportunities, and skills development โ€” equipping them with valuable competencies for a more productive and hopeful reintegration into society.

Under the leadership of JCINSP MARICEL MIJARES, City Jail Warden, Talisay City Jail Female Dormitory, in partnership with COMELEC Talisay City, successfully conducted a Special Voter Registration for qualified Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) in preparation for BSKE 2026. This initiative ensures that every eligible voter is given the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

The activity was also highlighted by the courtesy visit of ATTY. Ricleigh M. Cosulta, Election Officer IV, demonstrating strong support for voter inclusivity and accessible public service within correctional facilities.
