📢 INTER-SCHOOL PEER EDUCATORS TRAINING LEVEL 2 | Day 4

Empowering today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders 🌟

The Talisay City Population and Development Office headed by City Population and Development Officer- designate -Jennifer N. Baradas,RN under the Talisay City Primary Care Facility headed by OIC- City Health Officer Dr. Karl Marie S. Tuvilla- Robite successfully conducted today August 18, 2026 an Inter-school Peer Educators Training Level 2 in line with Linggo Ng Kabataan at CSNTR Talisay headed by Director/Principal is Rev. Fr. Ernil F. Almayo, OAR and facilitated by CSNTR Guidance Counselor Ms.Mary Grace Burgos using the Healthy Young Ones (HYO) V2.0 curriculum with HEEADSSS Assessment and Counseling done.

Students enhanced their knowledge and skills in the actual conduct of adolescent health class, responsible decision-making, communication, mental well-being, gender sensitivity, and positive peer influence.

Special thanks to Mayor Atty Rowena Lopez Lizares for the meals and transport vehicle provided during the activity.

Together, we continue building empowered and responsible youth for healthier communities.

The 1st TaliSine Short Film Festival is officially open!

The first leg of the TaliSine short film caravan began at Don Simplicio Lizares National High School, with Pamukaw: Handuraw sang Kultura kag Istorya, an opening program that formally welcomed the festival to its first screening venue.

The festival was formally declared open by Mayor Rowena ‘Weng’ Guadalupe Lopez-Lizares, through Assistant City Administrator Ismael Penado, in the presence of City Government officials Jonah M. Javier, CGADH-1 of the City of Talisay Investment and Economic Promotions Office, and Martin Gerard C. Lizares, City Councillor.

Joining the celebration were DepEd officials led by OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jen-Ann V. Rosal, CESO VI, OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Noel E. Santillan, Dr. Romualdo B. Batallones, CID, OIC-Chief Education Supervisor, and Dr. Ike Dominic A. Jalwin, LRMS, OIC-Education Program Supervisor, together with school heads, teachers, and students.

And what a way to begin!

The screening was filled with laughter, reactions, and genuine engagement from the audience. Seeing students respond to the characters, situations, and experiences portrayed on screen was perhaps the most rewarding part of the day. The stories found their audience because they spoke to experiences that felt familiar, making the films immediate, relatable, and close to home.

This is exactly what TaliSine hopes to create: a space where young filmmakers can tell stories from their communities and where their fellow Talisaynons can see something of themselves in those stories!

Tomorrow, the caravan continues as we bring TaliSine to Dr. Antonio A. Lizares Memorial High School and Efegenio Lizares National High School.

The screens are lit. The stories are out. TaliSine 2026 is officially underway!

The TaliSine Short Film Festival is presented by the Department of Education Schools Division Office of Talisay City and the TaliSine Festival Organizing Committee, in partnership with the City Government of Talisay, Negros Occidental, through the Tourism Promotions and Development Office and the City of Talisay Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office.

𝙈𝘼𝙔𝙊𝙍 𝘼𝙏𝙏𝙔. 𝙒𝙀𝙉𝙂 𝙇𝙄𝙕𝘼𝙍𝙀𝙎 joined 3rd District Representative Javi Benitez today, August 14, for the official groundbreaking of the Talisay City–Metro Third Evacuation Center in Barangay Concepcion, marking a monumental milestone in strengthening local disaster resilience, public safety and emergency response capabilities across the city.

Spearheaded by Cong. Javi Benitez for the people of Talisay, this facility is designed to serve as a dedicated, safe and fully equipped sanctuary for residents seeking refuge during typhoons, floods and natural calamities.

The establishment of this modern infrastructure marks a major leap forward in the city's disaster preparedness, providing a high capacity, purpose built center that ensures rapid response and dignified shelter when crises strike. Crucially, the evacuation center will serve as a fully functional operational hub for both the Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Having a specialized, centrally equipped facility empowers TCDRRMO to streamline quick-response logistics and coordinate rescue maneuvers seamlessly, while enabling CSWDO to execute efficient relief distribution, family care and social service management without having to rely on temporary school shelters.

To guarantee fast and unhindered movement during critical emergency operations, Cong. Javi Benitez has also committed to funding the construction of a dedicated access road leading directly to the center, which is set for inclusion in the 2027 national budget.

Mayor Weng Lizares expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Cong. Benitez for securing this essential infrastructure, reaffirming their shared commitment under Gwapa Nga Panghimanwa to build a safer and more resilient Talisay.

Beyond its lifesaving role, the facility represents a remarkable story of urban renewal, turning a site that was once the city’s old open dumpsite into a vital beacon of warmth and protection for the community.

We are giving out Free Haircuts for our Scholarship Program for the Masses. This program is once again a first here in our New Market. This aims to help our barbers and haircutters while our scholars get ready for the new school year.

In my speech, I took the time to share this GOOD NEWS with our vendors at the New Market: For our old market vendors, we are extending our free water and electricity until December. For our new market vendors, you don't have to pay rent until December. And for our marketgoers, our shuttles are now three in number for the FREE RIDE to cater to those who ride double and go far. All of this is the result of my continuous listening to you.

I hope you will continue to support the development of our city because our New Public Market is strategically located as a new center of progress. I will never get tired of visiting you at the New Market and most of all, I will never get tired of doing everything I can to help you all.

𝙈𝘼𝙔𝙊𝙍 𝘼𝙏𝙏𝙔. 𝙒𝙀𝙉𝙂 𝙇𝙄𝙕𝘼𝙍𝙀𝙎 graced the blessing and inauguration of the City of Talisay Chess Master Center, marking a monumental leap forward for the local sports and youth development scene.

Situated right at the Talisay Public Plaza (beside the Visitor’s Information Center), the new hub was officially blessed in a ceremony officiated by Rev. Fr. Roland P. Cepe, OAR. Joined by Talisay City Chess Club President Ely Jimenez, local leaders and passionate players, the event set an inspiring tone for what is bound to become a buzzing sanctuary for strategic minds.

Former Mayor Neil Lizares was also present to extend his warm congratulations to the organization, celebrating this dedicated physical space where players of all generations can gather, train, and sharpen their skills.

The inauguration was made even more special by the presence of renowned national and international chess star Recarte Tiauson, whose impressive international credentials include:
