Under the leadership of 𝐉𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐋 𝐒 𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎, 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧, personnel of Talisay City Jail actively participated in the 𝑲𝒊𝒄𝒌-𝑶𝒇𝒇 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒅𝒂 𝑬𝒔𝒌𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒂 2026 held at 𝑫𝒓. 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒐 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒂 𝑬𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍, Hacienda Mana-ul, Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on June 1, 2026.

This year's theme, “𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻: 𝗡𝗮𝗴𝗸𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗮𝘆𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗞𝗮𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻” highlights the importance of unity and collective action in creating a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for students. The activity was spearheaded by 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐀𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐃. 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨, 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐈, together with teachers, parents, stakeholders, and community partners.

The participation of Talisay City Jail personnel demonstrates the Bureau's commitment to community engagement and support for educational initiatives. Through collaborative efforts such as Brigada Eskwela, stronger partnerships are fostered among government agencies, schools, and local communities, ensuring that learners are welcomed into a well-prepared and nurturing school environment.

𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙙𝙖 𝙀𝙨𝙠𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙖 is an annual nationwide program of the Department of Education (DepEd) that mobilizes teachers, parents, students, volunteers, and various stakeholders to work together in cleaning, repairing, and preparing public schools for the opening of classes, embodying the Filipino spirit of bayanihan in support of quality education.

In support of the nationwide implementation of Brigada Eskwela 2026, personnel of Talisay City Jail, under the leadership of 𝗝𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗝𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗣 𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗟 𝗦 𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢 and 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗝𝗢3 𝗘𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗖 𝗭𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗮, actively participated in the 𝑲𝒊𝒄𝒌-𝑶𝒇𝒇 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒂 𝑬𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒂 𝑳𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝑬𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 headed by School Principal , Ma’am Carmelita Barrieta.

As part of the activity, cleaning materials were formally turned over to MELES to assist the school in ensuring a clean, safe, and conducive learning environment for both learners and teachers in preparation for the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027.

ＺＵＭＢＡＦＩＴＮＥＳＳＡＣＴＩＶＩＴＹ

As part of the Welfare and Development Program of Talisay City Jail, a Zumba fitness activity was conducted for the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) under the guidance and leadership of Warden, 𝐉𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐋 𝐒 𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎.

The activity forms part of the facility’s continuing efforts to promote the health and well-being of PDL through meaningful and productive programs. Zumba is a high-energy dance fitness program that combines music with choreographed aerobic movements, creating an enjoyable and engaging workout experience.

By incorporating both fast and slow-paced rhythms, Zumba serves as an effective cardiovascular exercise that helps improve heart health, increase stamina, enhance coordination, tone muscles, and burn calories. Beyond its physical benefits, the activity also supports mental wellness by reducing stress, uplifting mood, and fostering a positive outlook through the release of endorphins.

The flag-raising ceremony is a significant tradition that reflects 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒎, 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚, and 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏'𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚. On May 28, 2026, Talisay City Jail, under the leadership of Warden, 𝐉𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐋 𝐒 𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎, successfully conducted a 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝘽𝙖𝙠𝙮𝙖 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙨 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙨 through the 𝙆𝙖𝙥𝙬𝙖 𝙆𝙤, 𝙂𝙪𝙧𝙤 𝙆𝙤 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢. The activity was spearheaded by two (1 male and 1 female) of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL), showcasing the importance of peer-led learning and empowerment within the facility.

A total of 100 PDL participants (72 male and 28 female) actively joined the training and gained valuable knowledge and practical skills in crochet-making. This initiative highlights the significance of skills training as a structured and hands-on approach to education, equipping individuals with the abilities, knowledge, and positive behaviors needed to perform tasks effectively and productively.

This sustainability output is a result of the ＴＷＩＮＥＭＡＴＩＣＳＥｘｔｅｎｓｉｏｎＰｒｏｇｒａｍ, a collaborative initiative of 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐂𝐇𝐌𝐒𝐔) and the 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐂𝐒𝐖𝐃𝐎) of Talisay City.

𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬 (𝐓𝐁) 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 is an important medical procedure that helps determine whether a person carries the bacteria that cause tuberculosis. Through this initiative, Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) were given the opportunity to safeguard their health and well-being.

This meaningful activity greatly uplifted the morale of our PDL, reminding them that they are not forgotten and that their welfare continues to be valued and remembered by the community.

On May 24, 2026, 𝐉𝐎3 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐨 𝐕 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐈𝐈𝐈, 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞, successfully conducted a 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙩-𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢. The activity aimed to educate Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) about the risks brought by extreme heat, including how to identify symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, as well as the appropriate actions to ensure their safety and well-being.

Through this initiative, the PDL became more informed and knowledgeable about the proper precautions and healthy practices to prevent heat-related diseases, promoting awareness and responsibility toward personal health.

This activity was made possible through the unwavering support of 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧, 𝐉𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐋 𝐒 𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎, whose commitment to the welfare of the PDL continues to inspire meaningful programs inside the facility.

Under the leadership of 𝗝𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗣 𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗟 𝗦 𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢, 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻, a 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒚 𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒔 was successfully held on May 24, 2026, officiated by 𝗥𝗲𝘃. 𝗙𝗿. 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗼 𝗡. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗲 of the 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒚 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔.

This meaningful activity aimed to inspire and bring hope to our fellow country men behind bars, reminding them that everyone deserves a second chance and the opportunity to change for the better. Through faith and guidance, the program encouraged reflection, renewal, and the strengthening of one’s spiritual connection despite life’s challenges.

Through the initiative and leadership of 𝐉𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐋 𝐒 𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎, 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧, the facility now proudly welcomes visitors and personnel with a newly designed and improved entrance gate.

The enhanced gate serves not only as a symbol of warmth and hospitality but also reflects the 𝙟𝙖𝙞𝙡 𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡, 𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙙, and 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 for everyone entering the facility.

Under the leadership of 𝐉𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐋 𝐒 𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎, Warden of Talisay City Jail, a successful Joint Greyhound Operation was conducted on May 21, 2026, in collaboration with the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 (𝐏𝐃𝐄𝐀), along with drug testing activity facilitated by the 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 for Personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

The Greyhound Operation is a surprise and coordinated search and seizure procedure carried out inside jail facilities to ensure safety, security, and order. Meanwhile, drug testing is conducted to determine whether an individual has used or misused illegal drugs or prescription substances.

Through initiatives like this, Talisay City Jail continues to strengthen its commitment to maintaining a 𝒔𝒂𝒇𝒆, 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒆, and 𝒅𝒓𝒖𝒈-𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 for everyone within the facility.
