📌 Punta Santiago Elementary School

⛑️ Basic Life Support Awareness

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) recently conducted a Basic Life Support Awareness activity for the learners and school personnel of Punta Santiago Elementary School. This initiative supports the school’s active participation in the Healthy Learning Institutions Program.

The activity aimed to strengthen knowledge and awareness of basic first aid, emergency response, and disaster preparedness. Through this program, both learners and staff were equipped with essential information to foster a safer, more prepared, and more resilient school community.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our Local Chief Executive, Hon. Mayor Ciriaco Talines, for his continued support of disaster preparedness initiatives in the municipality, which greatly contributed to the success of this activity.

Together, we continue to build a safer and more prepared community.

Following the strong earthquake that affected Mindanao earlier today, as reported by PHIVOLCS, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Talisayan immediately activated its post-earthquake assessment protocols.

Pursuant to the directive and proactive public safety initiative of our Local Chief Executive, Hon. Ciriaco Talines , the MDRRMO, in coordination with the Municipal Engineering Office and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Talisayan FS , conducted a Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

As part of the municipality's risk-based assessment strategy, priority was given to schools and government facilities with multi-storey structures and high daily occupancy to ensure the safety of students, teaching and non-teaching personnel, government employees, and the public.

The assessment covered the following establishments:

🏫 Bukidnon State University – Talisayan Campus
🏫 Saint Mary's Academy
🏛️ Talisayan Municipal Hall

Based on the initial RDANA jointly conducted by the MDRRMO, Municipal Engineering Office, and the Bureau of Fire Protection, no visible structural damages or safety concerns were observed in the above-mentioned buildings that would warrant the suspension of classes or the temporary closure of government operations at this time.

The Municipal Government of Talisayan will continue to monitor the situation and conduct further assessments as necessary, in close coordination with PHIVOLCS and other concerned agencies, particularly with regard to possible aftershocks and related hazards.

We encourage everyone to remain calm but vigilant and to continue following official advisories and earthquake preparedness measures.

REMARKS:
Team Alpha conducted first aid and cleaned the patients’ wounds on-site after they sustained minor wounds and scratches due to a vehicular incident. However, both patients refused transport to the hospital and opted not to undergo further medical treatment.

Base sa latest satellite imagery sa PAGASA ug forecast models sa Windy (ECMWF ug ICON), padayon nga naapektuhan ang Mindanao sa Easterlies nga nagdala og panagsang kasarangan (moderate) ngadto sa kusog nga ulan ug thunderstorms. Ang kasamtangang thunderstorm activity sa Northern Mindanao nagpalig-on sa posibilidad sa pag-ulan sulod sa gabii hangtod kadlawon sa Talisayan.

🌧️ Pinaka-posibleng oras sa mas kusog nga ulan:
• 8:00 PM – 12:00 MN → light to moderate rain nga adunay isolated thunderstorm cells
• 1:00 AM – 4:00 AM → mao ang mas taas nga posibilidad sa intermittent moderate rain ug convective rain base sa ECMWF ug ICON guidance.
• Ang pinaka-intense nga ulan posible mahitabo tali sa 2:00 AM – 3:00 AM, apan localized ug dili mo-padayon.

Base sa pinakabag-ong monitoring sa DOST-PAGASA alas 4:00 sa kaadlawon karong 07 Mayo 2026, ang Low Pressure Area (LPA 05a) nga naa sulod sa PAR padayon nga hinungdan sa mga pag-ulan ug thunderstorm sa Mindanao lakip na ang Northern Mindanao ug Talisayan.

Ang LPA namatikdan mga 120–140 km Southeast sa Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur ug giila nga “UNLIKELY” O DILI mamahimong Tropical Depression sulod sa sunod 24 oras. Samtang, ang Tropical Storm “HAGUPIT” nagpabilin sa gawas sa PAR ug layo pa sa Eastern Mindanao, apan nag-dala kini sa dugang nga umog (moisture) sa Eastern ug Northern Mindanao. Kon kini mosulod na sa PAR paganganlan kini og Bagyong Caloy. Gibanabana nga kini mosulod sa Sabado sa gabii o kadlawon sa Dominggo. Kini posibleng mabati ang epekto niini nga pag-ulan, sayo sunod semana.

Alang sa Talisayan, gilauman ang:
• Madag-umon nga kahimtang sa panahon
• Scattered o pat-ak pat-ak nga pag-ulan ug pagdalugdog.
• Posibilidad sa moderate usahay heavy pag-ulan panahon sa hapon hangtod gabii
• Light to moderate nga hangin gikan sa Southeast ngadto Northeast
