π©ΊβοΈ BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING | SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Talisayan successfully completed its two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training conducted on August 12β13, 2026 at Villa Arcadia Beach Resort, Calamcam, Talisayan, Misamis Oriental, in partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Nursing Service Sub-Unit β Northern Mindanao and the Medical Station β Northern Mindanao.
The training brought together MDRRMO personnel, selected Talisayan Beach Lifeguards, and one delegate from selected coastal barangays, strengthening our collective capability to respond to medical emergencies and life-threatening situations.
π Why BLS is important in MDRRMO
For disaster responders, Basic Life Support is more than just a training requirementβit is a fundamental lifesaving capability.
In emergency and disaster situations, responders are often the first to reach a patient before definitive medical care becomes available. Having personnel who are competent in CPR, recognition of life-threatening conditions, and other essential BLS interventions can mean the difference between life and death, particularly in remote areas, during mass-casualty incidents, and in water-related emergencies.
This is especially relevant to Talisayan as a coastal municipality, where our responders may be called upon to manage drowning incidents, water-related emergencies, trauma, and other situations requiring immediate lifesaving intervention.
More importantly, the completion of BLS serves as a prerequisite for our upcoming Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Training next week. Before our responders enter the water to save others, they must first be equipped with the knowledge and skills to save a life once that person is brought to shore.
This is another step toward building a more capable, prepared, and resilient local response team. πͺπ

β Special Thanks to PCG Talisayan Sub-Station Cgss Talisayan
A very special appreciation to PO2 Rondel Lopz PCG, Sub-Station Commander, Coast Guard Sub-Station Talisayan, for his unwavering support.
Sir Rondel's support was instrumental in making this training happen. Without his assistance, we would not have been able to secure a definitive schedule for the BLS training. And without the BLS training, we could not move forward with our planned WASAR training.
Thank you for being a reliable partner of the MDRRMO and for continuously supporting our efforts to strengthen Talisayan's emergency response capability. βπ€
π Thank You, BFP Talisayan Talisayan FS
Our sincere thanks as well to the Bureau of Fire Protection β Talisayan Fire Station, headed by Fire Marshal Ethel Talines, for providing emergency response coverage throughout the two-day training.
Your support allowed our personnel to fully participate in the training while ensuring that emergency response capability within our area of responsibility remained available.
Salamat sa inyong serbisyo ug suporta! π
ποΈ Special Appreciation to Villa Arcadia Beach Resort
We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to Villa Arcadia Beach Resort for generously providing free accommodation for our PCG trainers during the training.
Your generosity helped make it possible for our trainers to stay close to the training venue and focus on what they came here to doβteach, train, and help prepare our responders to save lives.
Thank you for supporting our capacity-building efforts and for being a gracious partner of the MDRRMO and the Municipality of Talisayan. β€οΈ
π€ Thank You, Hon. Vice Mayor Jimmy P. Taray
Our appreciation also goes to our Municipal Vice Mayor, who graciously assisted in the presentation of the Certificates of Appreciation to our PCG trainers.
With our Municipal Mayor away on official business outside the municipality, your presence and support ensured that we were still able to formally recognize and thank our trainers for their invaluable contribution.
Daghang salamat, Vice Mayor!
ποΈ And to our Local Chief Executive
Finally, our deepest appreciation goes to our Local Chief Executive, Hon. Ciriaco Talines, for being on board with the MDRRMO's capacity-building initiatives from day one.
Your continued support and commitment to investing in the knowledge, skills, and readiness of our responders allow us to pursue trainings that strengthen our municipality's ability to protect and save lives.
This BLS training is only the beginning.
Next week, we take it to the water. π
From BLS β WASAR, we continue building a response team that is trained, capable, and ready when Talisayan needs us most.
