PJS Issue: For the first time, a study documents the presence of deformed wing virus (DWV) in Philippine apiaries—detected in both adult honeybees and Varroa mites in NCR and brood samples in Batangas. Genetic analysis confirms strong similarity to known DWV strains, highlighting its role in honeybee health and colony decline globally.

While other major bee viruses were not detected, the findings provide the first local baseline on DWV occurrence in the country—crucial information for strengthening bee disease monitoring, apiculture management, and food security efforts.

The JRMSU Libraries is pleased to inform the academic community that Jose Rizal Memorial State University is an active institutional member of the Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) for the period April 17, 2026 to April 16, 2027.

Representing the University in this professional organization is Mr. Mark Andrew D. Bacordo, RL, MLIS, Director for Libraries, who actively engages in initiatives that advance academic librarianship and strengthen institutional linkages.

This membership underscores JRMSU’s commitment to continuous professional development, excellence in library and information services, and active participation in national scholarly networks. Through PAARL, the University benefits from professional development programs, knowledge exchange, and access to best practices in the field.

Furthermore, as part of the PAARLNet, this engagement reinforces Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, emphasizing the vital role of collaboration and institutional partnerships in fostering innovation and shared growth within the library profession.

Pursuant to the Memorandum from the Office of the Chairperson (No. 117, s. 2026) issued by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), released in response to the declared state of national energy emergency in the country, Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) is conducting a university-wide survey.
This initiative aims to gather insights on the readiness, capacity, and concerns of faculty, staff, and students regarding the possible transition to flexible or full online learning modalities. The results of this survey will serve as a basis for institutional decisions and responsive policy directions to ensure the continuity and quality of instruction and services.

Muling nag-aalab ang diwa ng kagitingan tuwing ginugunita natin ang kanilang kabayanihan—pinapahalagahan ang kanilang sukdulang sakripisyo at ang kalayaang ating tinatamasa sa kasalukuyan.

Sa ika-84 na 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻, nakikiisa ang Jose Rizal Memorial State University sa marangal na pag-alaala at pagpupugay sa mga bayaning nag-alay ng buhay para sa ating pambansang kasarinlan.
