𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗧 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗟𝗚𝗨 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗼 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗜, 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀

Tago, Surigao del Sur — DICT Caraga, through its Surigao del Sur Provincial Field Office, conducted a three-day Digital Literacy and AI Productivity Training from July 13 to 15, 2026, at the Barangay Hall in Brgy. Purisima, Tago, Surigao del Sur.

The training equipped 30 participants — including members of the Sangguniang Bayan, the Office of the Vice Mayor, and barangay captains and their representatives — with digital competencies and AI-powered productivity tools to strengthen government operations and improve public service delivery.

The training gave local government officials hands-on experience with Google Workspace, Canva, Gemini AI, and NotebookLM. Participants built practical skills in cloud collaboration, document creation, data management, digital content development, and responsible AI use to help streamline administrative processes and improve workplace productivity. A dedicated session on cybersecurity awareness reinforced safe and responsible use of digital technologies in government.

Throughout the three-day activity, participants actively engaged in workshops and practical exercises that simulated real government office scenarios. They developed digital filing systems, prepared official documents and reports, managed data using spreadsheets, and explored AI tools that can support faster, more efficient, and informed decision-making in local governance.

Through initiatives like this, DICT-Caraga continues to strengthen the digital capacity of local government units, empowering public officials and community leaders to deliver more efficient, innovative, and citizen-centered services across the region.

TANDAG CITY – DICT-Caraga, through the Surigao del Sur Provincial Office, held a two-day AI Standard ASEAN webinar for educators and students on June 18–19, 2026 via Zoom, in celebration of National ICT Month 2026 with the theme, 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗸𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗼 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘀𝘆𝗼: 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗸𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹, 𝗗𝗲𝗸𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗸𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘀𝘆𝗼. The event brought together four hundred ninety-four 494 participants—including educators, school heads, ICT coordinators, students, youth leaders, campus journalists, and aspiring digital professionals from across the Philippines—to strengthen AI literacy, digital skills, and responsible technology use.

The webinar series included sessions on “Shaping the Future of Education Through AI Awareness: A Professional Transformation Program for Forward-Thinking Educators” and “AI Fluency: Building the Next Generation of Competent, Confident, and AI-Ready ASEAN Leaders.” Ms. Celeste S. Actub led discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities to build participants’ practical knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, prompt engineering, AI productivity tools, digital citizenship, cybersecurity, data privacy, academic integrity, and responsible AI use. Educators developed AI-assisted lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment tools, while students engaged in guided activities on AI-powered learning, content creation, innovation, and problem-solving. These interactive sessions enabled participants to apply AI tools in real-world contexts and highlighted how AI supports teaching, learning, research, creativity, and workforce development.

This activity is part of DICT-Caraga’s ongoing efforts to promote digital transformation and equip Filipinos with the skills needed to succeed in an AI-driven environment. Participants’ feedback emphasized the relevance of the topics and the value of AI in enhancing productivity, fostering innovation, and supporting lifelong learning, while ensuring ethical and responsible use of technology.

Through these initiatives, DICT Surigao del Sur remains committed to advancing digital literacy and awareness of emerging technologies, empowering educators, students, and communities to contribute to the country's digital future.
