Vegetable Production Training aims to equip farmer association members with the knowledge and skills as well as to provide valuable insights on best practices, innovative techniques and sustainable approaches to maximize farm yields and produce quality of foods.

The training was conducted thru the DA-SAAD Program under the High Value Crops Related Projects (Lowland Vegetable Production) for the two identified Farmer Association Beneficiaries which are the Dumatad Vegetable Farmers Association and Tagas Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative.

Turn-over of Vegetable Seeds Allocation for the FA's was also done after the training which is also included in the project package from the program.

Coordination Meeting with the Barangay Officials together with the Municipal Agriculture Office and Office of the Provincial Veterinarian with regards to the updates of cases concerning African Swine Fever in the Province of Aklan.

Hon. Gary T. Fuentes, Municipal Mayor gave a short message during the meeting. Ms. Karol Kay T. Amacio, AT/OIC-MAO presented the Executive Order concerning African Swine Fever (ASF) for the Municipality of Tangalan while Dr. Joseph Lachica presented updates of ASF in the Province of Aklan as well as the Do's & Dont's and important keypoints concerning ASF.

Department of Agriculture - Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program conducted a Community Needs Assessment to farmer association beneficiary of the program in which aims to identify the specific needs of the farmer association.

Community Needs Assessment empower farmer associations to implement targeted programs, provide relevant resources, and facilitate effective decision-making.

Four farmer associations were identified as DA-SAAD Program Beneficiaries for 2023-2028 project implementations under High Value Crops & Corn Related Projects.

NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL RICE AWARENESS MONTH!

The National Rice Awareness Month aims to help achieve the country's food security goal, improve farmers' income, and promote health among rice consumers.

Rice Awareness Month is celebrated every November to raise awareness about the importance of healthier forms of rice that are locally produced like brown rice. During this month, everyone is encourage to consume healthier rice which are produced by our local farmers as it is less exposed to pesticides than imported rice.

This year's NRAM theme:

"Be RICEponsible: Everyone has a part to play."

A-Ba-Ka-Da ng "Be RICEponsible" at ang panatang makapalay ay ating isapuso! 🌾
