3 September 2026, Cagayan de Oro City โ€” The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X is bringing back the Nutrition School-on-the-Air (NSOA) for 2026, which will run from 14 September to 9 October 2026. The program will air every Monday and Friday, from 3:00 to 3:30 PM, at NNC Region X Facebook Live.

This yearโ€™s NSOA will focus on the first 1,000 days of life (F1KD), a critical period that begins with pregnancy and continues until a child reaches two years of age. It is called the โ€œgolden window of opportunityโ€ as it shapes the lifelong well-being of the child. Ensuring good health in these early days lays the foundation for childrenโ€™s cognitive and physical development, yielding benefits that last well into adulthood and ultimately benefit the society (UNICEF, 2021).

Throughout the NSOA, listeners will learn about important F1KD practices, including proper maternal nutrition during pregnancy, exclusive breastfeeding, appropriate complementary feeding, responsive caregiving, and other essential practices that support the overall well-being of mothers, infants, and young children.

A total of eight (8) episodes will be aired throughout the program. After each episode, a five-item quiz will be given to test the knowledge gained by listeners. Quiz winners will be announced during the succeeding NSOA episode and will receive โ‚ฑ100.00 worth of cellphone load.

The NSOA is open to all individuals, including parents, health and nutrition workers, students, and other individuals interested in learning more about health and nutrition. Following the completion of the eight episodes, a virtual Graduation Day will be held to recognize the enrollees and active listeners who consistently participated in the NSOA and completed the episode quizzes. Participants who meet the requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion and will also receive exciting prizes.
