Yesterday marked a significant milestone for our athletic community as the Sports Development and Services Office hosted the 1st UNM Coaches Meeting. Gathering under one roof at the UNM Library, it was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we unite under one vision: One Team. One Goal. UNM Pride!

The highlight of the afternoon was definitely the talk by Coach Rodrin Rivera on "The Heart of Coaching: Building Your Coaching Philosophy." It served as a vital reminder that coaching isn't just about winning strategies, plays, or physical drills. True coaching is grounded in a deep philosophy of mentorship, character-building, and shaping the hearts and minds of our student-athletes.

2. Strategic Preparation for the Season

The meeting proper mapped out an exciting and busy roadmap for our teams. From aligning on varsity tryouts and practice schedules to preparing for the highly anticipated Generals Cup and the Civil Service Sports Competition, it’s clear that structured planning is already underway to set our athletes up for maximum success.

3. Unity and Accountability

Seeing all coaches present highlighted the shared accountability we hold under the Sports Development and Services Office. Discussing our program goals, upcoming schedules, and office policies ensures we are all moving in the exact same direction. When coaches are aligned, the entire athletic program thrives.
