A coordination meeting was conducted with the Municipal Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) and Barangay IPMRs, with the active participation of NCIP Capiz personnel, to discuss the preparation for the upcoming National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration scheduled on October 29, 2026.
The meeting was held at Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Hall, Government Center, Poblacion, Tapaz, Capiz, on August 20, 2026.
The consensus focused on the following key areas:
• Program Planning – Identification of activities that highlight the culture, traditions, and rights of the ICCs/IPs, including cultural presentations, forums, and exhibits.
• Roles and Responsibilities – Clarification of the duties of the Municipal and Barangay IPMRs in mobilizing their respective communities and ensuring active participation.
• Partnership and Support – Engagement with local government units (LGUs), NCIP, and partner agencies to secure logistical, financial, and technical assistance.
• Community Mobilization – Strategies to encourage maximum involvement of IP youth, elders, and women, ensuring inclusivity in the celebration
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to uphold the spirit of unity and cultural pride, ensuring that the celebration will serve as a meaningful platform to recognize the contributions and resilience of Indigenous Peoples, not only within the municipality and barangays but across the whole world.
