The Local Government Unit of Taraka, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Prof. Nashiba Gandamra-Sumagayan, successfully hosted the Turn-Over of Loose Fi****ms and ICOW SALW Management Program, reaffirming the municipality’s strong commitment to peace, public safety, and inter-municipal cooperation in Lanao del Sur. The activity was conducted in partnership with the municipalities of Tamparan, Mulondo, and Lumba Bayabao, whose local chief executives joined the initiative as partners in the collective effort to promote peace and security in the province through the voluntary surrender of loose fi****ms. Present during the activity were Mayor Mohammad Juhar D. Disomimba of Tamparan, Mayor Abdulhakim O. Panandigan of Mulondo, and Mayor Mahar P. Dagalangit of Lumba Bayabao, alongside representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU). Mayor Nashiba delivered the welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and shared responsibility in sustaining peace across the Bangsamoro region. The event was further graced by OPAPRU Secretary Hon. Mel Senen S. Sarmiento as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, while Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament Atty. Amenodin U. Sumagayan also expressed support for initiatives that strengthen harmony and community safety. Also present was Mayor Engr. Ali Sumandar as guest and League President of the Lanao del Sur Chapter. The program concluded with the signing of the Pledge of Commitment to Peace, symbolizing the unified dedication of partner municipalities and stakeholders toward a safer and more peaceful future for all.

PUBLIC ADVISORY

The Local Government Unit of Taraka informs all residents, property owners, and concerned constituents that the Office of the Provincial Assessor of Lanao del Sur will conduct the 1st and 2nd Public Consultation on the 2026 Proposed Schedule of Market Values (SMV) on June 2 and 3, 2026 at the Provincial Gymnasium, New Capitol Complex, Buadi Sacayo, Marawi City.

Residents of Taraka are encouraged to review the proposed Schedule of Market Values and participate in the public consultation as part of the province’s continuing effort to ensure transparency and proper valuation of real properties.

Mayor Nashiba G. Sumagayan convened the Local School Board (LSB) Meeting on May 13, 2026 to discuss key educational initiatives and preparations for the municipality. Among the matters tackled during the meeting were the implementation of the Summer Remedial Program, preparations for Brigada Eskwela 2026, the conduct of the House-to-House Literacy Mapping and Survey, and updates on the Tara Basa Tutoring Program. The meeting highlighted the continued commitment of the municipal government and education stakeholders in strengthening literacy programs and improving the quality of education for learners in the Municipality of Taraka.

The Local Government Unit of Taraka, led by Mayor Nashiba G. Sumagayan, successfully conducted the Workforce Well-Being Program through the Distribution of Rice initiative on May 12, 2026 at the Municipal Complex, Taraka, Lanao del Sur. The program, initiated by Deputy Speaker MP Atty. Amenodin “Odin” U. Sumagayan, aimed to support the welfare of the local workforce by providing assistance that helps ease daily living expenses and uplift the morale of employees in public service.
