The DILG-Tarlac Provincial Office and ASEZ WAO formalized their commitment to environmental sustainability through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on August 5, establishing a collaborative framework for initiatives that advance climate action, environmental stewardship, and the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The agreement institutionalizes cooperation between the two organizations in implementing programs that promote environmental awareness, encourage volunteerism, and strengthen community participation in protecting natural resources. It also reinforces both parties' shared commitment to cultivating environmentally responsible communities through sustained collaboration, public education, and joint advocacy campaigns.

Under the partnership, DILG-Tarlac and ASEZ WAO will work together in implementing environmental initiatives, mobilizing volunteers for community-based activities, supporting information and education campaigns, and fostering partnerships that contribute to sustainable local development.

ASEZ WAO Provincial Director Matthew Park described the partnership as a strategic step toward advancing the organization's long-term vision of building a sustainable future by collaborating with government institutions it enables environmental advocates to reach wider audiences, strengthen public awareness campaigns, and transform environmental advocacy into concrete community action.

โ€œOur goal is to change the future of the environment. Through this partnership, we are given a greater opportunity to speak, to raise awareness, and to put into practice the advocacy we believe in. Working alongside our partner agencies allows us to reach more communities and move farther toward a greener Earth,โ€ Mr. Park said.

Provincial Director Zotico Gerson A. Villanueva Jr., CESO V, underscored the alignment of the partnership with the Department's mandate of promoting good local governance, emphasizing that environmental sustainability remains an essential component of resilient and empowered communities.

โ€œThe goal of DILG-Tarlac is to promote good local governance. That is why we share the same direction. We both seek to strengthen our communities while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,โ€ he stated in his message.

He also thanked ASEZ WAO and the DILG-Tarlac team for bringing the collaboration to fruition, stressing that the value of partnerships lies not only in shared benefits but in shared responsibility.

โ€œIn every partnership, the more important question is not, โ€˜What can we gain?โ€™ but โ€˜What can we contribute, and what can we accomplish together?โ€™ When we work together, we go farther,โ€ Dir. Villanueva added.

Following the ceremonial signing, ASEZ WAO members showcased Korean cultural performances featuring choral renditions and a traditional fan dance performed in hanbok. Inspired by nature and harmony, the presentation reflected the organization's message of unity, cultural exchange, and collective responsibility in protecting the environment.

The event concluded with a pinning ceremony, symbolizing the formal commitment of DILG-Tarlac and ASEZ WAO to strengthen their partnership in advancing environmental stewardship and supporting the global Save the Earth from A to Z campaign.

As climate conditions continue to worsen and environmental concerns intensify worldwide, ASEZ WAO remains steadfast in advancing its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its Signature Campaign in collaboration with partner agencies and local communities. Among its valued partners is the DILG-Tarlac Provincial Office, which continues to champion environmental sustainability while recognizing the vital role of young people in driving meaningful environmental action.

The signature campaign's three core objectives were discussed during the meeting between Mr. Matthew Park, Provincial Director of ASEZ WAO, and Provincial Director Zotico Gerson A. Villanueva Jr., CESO V, on August 4, 2026. These objectives include promoting the achievement of the SDGs by raising global awareness through campaigns led by young adult workers, encouraging immediate action on the most pressing priorities among the 17 SDGs based on community needs.

Also presented during the meeting were proposed activities aimed at advancing the SDGs while ensuring that no one is left behind, particularly vulnerable and marginalized sectors, including disaster-affected communities. The discussion likewise emphasized the importance of building stronger partnerships and establishing a global governance network for young adults to further strengthen collective action toward achieving the SDGs.

The signature campaign marks another step for DILG-Tarlacโ€™s continuing support for initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and youth engagement across the province of Tarlac.
