Pursuant to Proclamation No. 789 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, today, August 12, is a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid al-Adha.

Also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage and commemorates the willingness of prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.
