AIS TEACHERS STRENGTHEN COLLABORATIVE INSTRUCTION THROUGH LAC SESSION ON INTEGRATIVE PERFORMANCE TASKS
AN-ANAAO INTEGRATED SCHOOL| With the goal of promoting meaningful learning while reducing the academic workload of learners, teachers of An-anaao Integrated School conducted a Learning Action Cell (LAC) Session on the Crafting and Designing of Integrative Performance Tasks, emphasizing collaboration, curriculum alignment, and learner-centered assessment practices.
The session focused on developing integrative performance tasks that combine learning competencies from different subject areas into one meaningful and comprehensive output. This approach aims to address one of the common challenges faced by learners, the overwhelming number of performance tasks, projects, and requirements assigned separately across different learning areas.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration, teachers explored ways to design performance-based assessments that allow learners to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, creativity, and understanding of multiple subjects through a single, well-planned output.
A key emphasis of the session was ensuring that the integrated learning competencies are aligned, compatible, and interconnected, allowing each participating subject to achieve its intended learning objectives without compromising the quality and integrity of assessment.
Rather than simply combining activities, teachers were encouraged to carefully examine the curriculum standards, identify related competencies, establish common learning goals, and develop appropriate assessment criteria that reflect the specific expectations of each learning area.
The initiative also highlights the importance of quality over quantity in assessing student performance. By minimizing repetitive and overlapping requirements, learners can devote more time, effort, and creativity to producing meaningful, well-developed, and high-quality outputs instead of rushing to complete numerous unrelated tasks.
Furthermore, integrative performance tasks promote critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and the practical application of knowledge across disciplines. They encourage learners to recognize the connections among different subjects and understand how classroom learning can be applied to real-life situations.
The LAC session also served as an opportunity for teachers to strengthen professional collaboration, exchange instructional strategies, and collectively develop innovative approaches to classroom assessment that respond to the diverse needs and learning capacities of students.
This undertaking reinforces the school's commitment to responsive, inclusive, and learner-centered education, where academic excellence is pursued alongside consideration for learners' well-being, available resources, and individual learning circumstances.
Through this collaborative initiative, AIS continues to demonstrate that effective teaching is not measured by the number of tasks assigned but by the depth of learning, the relevance of experiences, and the quality of outcomes achieved.
One Integrated Task. Multiple Learning Competencies. One Meaningful Output.
Indeed, when teachers collaborate, learning becomes more connected, manageable, and meaningful.
