✨NC TIGBAUAN EMPOWERS WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS THROUGH MARKETING TRAINING✨

On August 30, 2025, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo, through its Negosyo Center in Tigbauan, conducted a Marketing Strategy Training for members of the Barangay Baguingin Women's Association. This activity was part of the Livelihood Training Program focused on the production of coconut shell-based keychains, held in Barangay Baguingin, Tigbauan, Iloilo.

The training was designed to empower women entrepreneurs by deepening their understanding of core marketing principles and equipping them with essential business competencies. Participants also received guidance on effective marketing strategies to enhance the visibility and profitability of their coconut shell-based keychains. As part of the program, a branding workshop was also conducted, enabling participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge by developing brand identities tailored to their products.

This meaningful activity was made possible through the generous support of Hon. Joenel G. Camposagrado, Punong Barangay of Baguingin, and Hon. Rizalie T. Tubilleja, Barangay Kagawad and Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services, Women, and Family. Their presence and unwavering commitment to uplifting the women of Barangay Baguingin are deeply appreciated and serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of community leadership and solidarity.

This initiative underscores DTI’s ongoing commitment to advancing industry development and promoting inclusive economic growth in Iloilo. Through targeted capacity-building programs and strategic collaboration with local stakeholders, the agency continues to foster sustainable livelihood opportunities and strengthen the entrepreneurial potential of women in rural communities.

PROFILING BAMBOO WEAVERS IN TIGBAUAN

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo, through the Negosyo Center and in partnership with the Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office of the LGU Tigbauan, conducted follow-up visits to several barangays to continue profiling local weavers involved in the bamboo industry.

The team met with bamboo weavers from Barangay San Rafael, Barangay Nagba, and Barangay Isian—areas renowned for their craftsmanship in producing bamboo products such as bags, baskets, arasinan, and kaing, among others.

The visit aimed to identify the specific needs of these bamboo weavers, focusing on access to essential tools and equipment and strategies to improve product marketability. This initiative marks a vital step toward empowering local bamboo artisans and promoting the bamboo industry in Tigbauan.

As part of the activity, the Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office also facilitated a meeting with the Barangay San Rafael Bamboo Weavers Association to discuss actionable steps for revitalizing the industry in the barangay.

Present during the visit were Business Counsellor Tasha Marie Mondia of Negosyo Center Tigbauan, along with Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office staff members Cristine Joy Bataga and Dellinger Molo.

NEGOSYO CENTER TIGBAUAN CONDUCTED MARKETING STRATEGY TRAINING TO SUGARCANE FARMERS

The DTI-Negosyo Center Tigbauan conducted a Marketing Strategy Training for sugarcane farmers from various towns across the province. This training was held in partnership with the Iloilo Provincial Government, through its Provincial Agriculture Office, as part of the Training on Sugarcane Production Technologies, Postharvest Practices, and Marketing, which took place from June 23-27, 2025, at Dreamers Valley Camp and Resort, Barangay Buenavista, Tigbauan, Iloilo. The program aims to empower farmers and strengthen the sugarcane industry in the province.

To equip sugarcane farmers with essential business skills, Negosyo Center Tigbauan emphasized the importance of marketing and understanding the marketplace. The training introduced various marketing strategies designed to enhance product profitability. Participants also engaged in a hands-on workshop, applying the knowledge they gained during the session.

This initiative aligns with the Department of Trade and Industry’s mission to support industry development in Iloilo by providing trainings and seminars and collaborating with partner agencies to empower local farmers.

TIGBAUANONS ATTENDED THE CONSULTANCY ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP AT NEGOSYO CENTER TIGBAUAN

Negosyo Center Tigbauan conducted a consultancy on Entrepreneurship or How to Start a Business to former OFWs. This consultancy, provided by the DTI, aids OFWs applying for the OWWA grant, "Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program." This program offers a package of livelihood support and assistance designed to provide immediate relief to returning OFWs.

Additionally, the same consultancy was provided to a Tigbauanon entrepreneur availing the Expanded Microbusiness Recovery Assistance during Crisis and Emergency (EMBRACE) loan program of the Iloilo Provincial Government. This initiative offers financial assistance to microentrepreneurs who have experienced significant business losses due to crises or emergencies.

Both the former OFWs and the Tigbauanon entrepreneur were also guided in preparing their business plans.

This consultancy aligns with Negosyo Center Tigbauan's services, which include providing tailored advisory services to MSMEs through one-on-one consultations, focus group discussions, and coaching or mentoring.
