DILG Tigbauan Orchestrates CSO Selection of Representatives and Tigbauan People's Council Officers

The CSO Selection of representatives to the Local Special Bodies and the officers of the Tigbauan People's Council (TPC) went well underway at the Municipal Conference Hall on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Municipal Mayor Atty. Virgilio T. Teruel kicked off the activities with a message cored on the significant impact of participatory governance for the LGU. CSO Desk Officer, Kristine Tubola reiterated the CSO Desk Officer's role, while MLGOO Aurelio Ticorda manned the duties of guiding the operationalization of the local people's council and of facilitating the selection of representative.

Mayor Teruel also led the oath-taking of the newly-selected representatives with the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, Mr. Jimmy Tupas, closing the event.

Where Peace Reigns and Safety Resides

The DILG-Tigbauan held a Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Planning at the Municipal Conference Hall on August 19-20, 2025 with various concerned offices in attendance.

LGOO II Alvin Joe Calabit, Peace and Order Council Focal Person from the DILG Iloilo Provincial Office, conducted the series of discussions and workshops cored on the review of Local Strategic Direction, Peace and Order and Public Safety Situation, Priority Peace and Order and Public Safety Challenges, and the Objectives, Strategies, Targets, Indicators, and Baseline Data.

MLGOO Aurelio Ticorda also spearheaded the 2-day planning-workshop and gathered representatives from the PNP, BFP, PCG, MDRRMO, Municipal Health Office, and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

DILG Tigbauan Echoes Civil Society Organization (CSO) Accreditation Guidelines

DILG Tigbauan presented the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Accreditation guidelines, as the LGU gears up for another term of accreditation and registration, on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the SB Session Hall, Tigbauan, Iloilo.

The conference kicked off with messages from Municipal Mayor Atty. Virigilio Teruel and Sangguniang Bayan Chairperson on Cooperatives and Civil Society Organizations, Hon. Joel Sayson. LGOO II Gerrod Villaruz dissected the importance of participatory governance and the guidelines set under DILG MC 2025-060, while MLGOO Aurelio Ticorda discussed the codal venues.

The event went on to a consultation with external stakeholders on Legislative Agenda and the presentation of the ways forward as LGU Tigbauan stays consistent in working wonders with the people.

DILG Tigbauan Facilitates LGU Executive Briefing

The Local Government Unit of Tigbauan went through the Executive Briefing- an activity which identifies priority areas for action, defines strategic starting points for newly elected officials, and allows appreciation of governance concerns, on July 8, 2025 at the Municipal Conference Hall.

The event featured the presentation of the Local Governance Summary as discussed by Municipal Administrator, Atty. Suzette Tenefrancia-Alquisada, while Municipal Mayor Atty Virgilio Teruel furthered the state of local governance as he also welcomed the newly elected officials together with the department heads, while DILG Cluster Head Raymundo Palanog gave a glimpse of the NEOPLUS Program which goes in line with the Executive Briefing agenda.

MLGOO Aurelio Ticorda also spearheaded the session of identifying the factors that affect LGU performance which gathered information from the different offices. LGOO II Gerrod Villaruz delivered the rationale of having a stakeholder analysis mapping in the process of boosting LGU performance.

Alongside the discussion of Atty. Suzette Tenefrancia-Alquisada and Mayor Virgilio Teruel's presence, Vice Mayor Lugen Ortilano also went on to participate in the said activity.

All Hands on Deck for the Training for the Search of the Most Outstanding Tanod

The Brgy. Tanod Officials of Brgy. Dorong-an participated in the hands-on training in line with the Most Outstanding Tanod search, from June 20-22, 2025 at the Brgy Hall grounds.

A comprehensive and immersive approach was given by the training team from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on the first day, revolving around first aid simulation and proper handling of affected persons. The Bureau of Fire Protection also had a fire situation simulation on the second day, while the Philippine National Police gave an in-depth training experience for the officials to conclude the 3-day drill and routine.

MLGOO Aurelio Ticorda went on to oversee the batch training and emphasized the signifance of such live drills. More than just participation in the said search and awards, MLGOO Ticorda reiterated the crucial role of Brgy. Tanod officials at the front line of such situations.

DILG-Tigbauan Connects with Sangguniang Bayan Office for Newly Elected SB Members' Coaching-Workshop

A two-day coaching workshop was conducted by the DILG-Tigbaun, in collaboration with the Sangguniang Bayan Office, on June 19-20, 2025 at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall.

The first day of the workshop was kicked off by a talk on the pillars of Development Legislation as presented by Gerrod Villaruz, LGOO II, which was then followed by the Codal Provisions on Local Legislation, as told by MLGOO Aurelio Ticorda.

DILG VI Assistant Regional Director Maria Calpiza J. Sardua, CESO IV, delivered the presentation on the Basics of Parliamentary Procedure on a two-part discussion.

Day 2 of the event took place with lessons on Legislative Measures, Codification, and Legislative Agenda, which was then followed by a workshop, conducted by MLGOO Ticorda.

The said event forms part of the initiatives to further the knowledge of newly-elected SB officials, as well as a refresher and continued learning process for the re-elected members.
