PNP HOT PURSUIT ENDS IN ARREST OF CHINESE NATIONAL, P105K IN MINERAL ORES SEIZED

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested a 62-year-old Chinese national following a hot pursuit operation after he breached a police checkpoint in Lanao del Norte and was intercepted in Iligan City on June 16, 2026. Authorities also recovered twenty-one sacks of alleged illegally transported mineral ores with an estimated value of Php105,000.00.

The operation began when personnel of the 3rd Mobile Force Platoon, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office flagged down a black pickup truck during a routine checkpoint in Barangay Samburon, Linamon. Instead of complying with inspection procedures, the driver refused to present his driver’s license and the vehicle’s registration documents before fleeing the checkpoint.

Police units immediately initiated a hot pursuit and coordinated with operating units in Iligan City, resulting in the successful interception of the vehicle along Balite Drive Extension in Barangay Suarez. During the inspection, authorities discovered twenty-one sacks of alleged mineral ores weighing approximately 840 kilograms with an estimated market value of Php105,000.00.

The suspect failed to produce any legal documents authorizing the transport of the minerals and was arrested for violation of Section 53 of Republic Act No. 7942, or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995. The confiscated mineral ores were subsequently turned over to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office 10 for examination.

“This operation demonstrates that evading a lawful checkpoint will only lead to greater accountability. Our personnel remained focused on enforcing the law and ensuring that illegally transported resources did not reach their destination,” said PGEN Nartatez.

“Hindi kami titigil sa pagpapatupad ng batas. Kapag may paglabag, aasahan ng publiko na kikilos ang PNP,” he added.

PNP, FDA SEIZE OVER ₱5.5-M WORTH OF SUSPECTED ADULTERATED COOKING OIL IN BUKIDNON

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), confiscated ₱5,526,672.00 worth of suspected adulterated, unlabeled, unregistered, and recycled cooking oil products during two simultaneous buy-bust operations in Valencia City, Bukidnon on June 18, 2026.

The first operation, conducted at a warehouse in Barangay Poblacion, resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the confiscation of 355 repacked cooking oil products in different retail sizes, along with 30 plastic gallon containers filled with 18 liters of cooking oil, with an estimated value of ₱4,326,672.00.

In a separate operation at a nearby trading establishment, authorities arrested three individuals and confiscated more than 9,700 liters of suspected cooking oil stored in plastic containers and storage tanks, including hundreds of repacked cooking oil products and other related equipment valued at ₱1,200,000.00.

Two other persons allegedly linked to the operations remain at large and are the subject of ongoing follow-up operations.

The coordinated operations were carried out by personnel of the CIDG Bukidnon Provincial Field Unit, CIDG Regional Field Unit 10, CIDG Cagayan de Oro City Field Unit, Valencia City Police Station, Bukidnon Police Provincial Office, and FDA regulatory enforcement personnel.

The successful operations form part of the PNP’s continuing efforts to protect consumers from unsafe and unregulated products while strengthening law enforcement under the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly on Enhanced Managing Police Operations. The initiative also supports the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in advancing consumer protection through stronger inter-agency collaboration and effective law enforcement.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for their coordinated efforts.

“Ang bawat matagumpay na operasyon ay patunay ng ating patuloy na pagtutok sa kapakanan ng publiko. Hindi lamang pagpapatupad ng batas ang layunin natin, kundi ang pagtiyak na ang mga produktong napupunta sa ating mga mamamayan ay ligtas at sumusunod sa itinakdang pamantayan. Patuloy tayong makikipagtulungan sa ating partner agencies upang maprotektahan ang bawat Pilipino,” said Gen. Nartatez.

He also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities involving the manufacture, repacking, or sale of regulated food products.

“Kung may napapansin kayong kahina-hinalang gawain, agad itong ipagbigay-alam sa inyong kapulisan o sa kinauukulang ahensya. Ang kaligtasan ng publiko ay responsibilidad nating lahat,” he added.

The arrested individuals are under the custody of the CIDG for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges, while follow-up operations are underway to locate the remaining persons involved. The PNP assured that all legal procedures will be observed as the investigation proceeds.

The Philippine National Police (PNP), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), scored another significant breakthrough in its intensified campaign against illegal drugs following the arrest of a High-Value Individual (HVI) and the seizure of more than PhP7.7 million worth of suspected shabu in Iloilo on June 17, 2026.

A joint buy-bust operation in Barangay Camambugan, Santa Barbara, Iloilo, led to the arrest of a 51-year-old watchlist drug personality known as “Banny”. The suspect, a resident of Janiuay, Iloilo, is listed on the PNP/PDEA drug watchlist. The operation was a coordinated effort by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (Teams 1 and 2), Provincial Intelligence Unit, Santa Barbara Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Division 6, and PDEA Region 6.

Confiscated during the operation were several plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated total weight of more or less 1,145 grams and a Standard Drug Price of approximately PhP7,786,000.00. Also recovered were the buy-bust money and other non-drug items.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. The Philippine National Police (PNP), through its Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), continues to strengthen its nationwide operations against the growing challenges of cybercrime and the spread of online misinformation, as part of its sustained efforts to ensure a safer and more responsible digital environment for the public.

In a series of coordinated operations conducted within a 24-hour monitoring period, the PNP ACG recorded significant accomplishments that included the filing of 10 cybercrime-related cases, the arrest of five individuals involved in various online offenses, and the rescue of a cybercrime victim who was immediately provided appropriate assistance. Authorities also reported the successful conviction of one cyber offender, reflecting the steady progress of cyber-related cases from investigation to prosecution.

As part of its proactive measures, the ACG carried out 63 cyber patrolling activities aimed at identifying and addressing suspicious online activities, including those linked to deceptive content and other forms of cyber-enabled violations. In addition, nine Warrants to Disclose Computer Data were implemented to further support digital evidence gathering and strengthen ongoing investigations.
