Solid to Destroy the Enemy and Earn the Respect of the People

UNGKAYA PUKAN BASILAN – LIEUTENANT COLONEL IVAN V SAN JOSE INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 18th Infantry (Deo Et Patria) Battalion, 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army, spearheaded the Command Conference and Commander’s Time attended by the Headquarters Staff Officers, Company Commanders, Sergeant Major, First Sergeants, Platoon Sergeants, Squad Leaders and Team Leaders from Battalion and line companies of 18IB on February 6, 7 and 9, 2018 held at Officer Mess Hall at its base at Sitio Camalig, Brgy. Bohe Pahu, Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan.

The purpose of the said conferences is to discuss the concerns within the battalion which will serve as one of the basis for actions of the new leadership. The CO considers it as a management tool and as a way to understand the unit’s internal situation,

“I intend to make our unit more efficient, and to provide what the troop needs for them to be able to successfully accomplish the mission. With these, I am sure that the battalion will be able to destroy the enemy, respected more by the community, and postured to adequately protect the men”, LTC SAN JOSE said. “My goal is for our battalion to win”, he added.

The commanding officer solicits support from the battalion leaders and encourages them to share with him the vision of a better, more professional, 18th Infantry Battalion. This thus makes him truly a rallying point for Deo Et Patria.

Ungkaya Pukan Basilan – 18th Infantry (Deo et Patria) Battalion with Maj. Gen. Roseller G Murillo AFP, Commander of 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division as presiding Officer held a Change of Command Ceremony on Sunday, 09:00 a.m., February 4, 2018 at Lucero Hall, Headquarters, 18th Infantry (Deo Et Patria) Battalion, 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army based in Sitio Camalig, Brgy Bohe Pahu, Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan Province.
Lt. Col. Ivan V San Jose PA assumed the command of 18th IB replacing his mistah, Lt. Col. Manuel S Valdez IV PA. Lt. Col. San Jose was the Chief of Production Branch, OG2, Philippine Army in Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila prior to his assumption as the 31st Commanding Officer of 18th IB. He is a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “MARILAG” Class of 1995.
Lt. Col. Valdez IV, the outgoing Battalion Commander assumed as the Battalion Commander of 55th Infantry Battalion based in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur where change of command was set on a later date.

17.05.25 - 18IB, 1ID, PA under the leadership of LTC RICARDO M LUCERO JR INF (GSC) PA formally opened the two (2) days Barangay Peace Action Team (BPAT) Training to the 200 new BPAT members of the different barangays in the Municipality of Ungkaya Pukan.
Also present during the activity are DILG Provincial Director Mr. Abou m asmawil, Memners of the Sanguniang Bayan of Ungkaya Pukan headed by the Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Ramidz I Barahim, Ungkaya Pukan Municipal Police Station led by the Deputy COP PSI Joseph Gordoves & memebers of the UP Association of Barangay Captains led by thier President Hon. Paang M Estadjal.

UNGKAYA PUKAN, BASILAN - 18TH Infantry (Deo et Patria) Battalion, 1ID, PA participated in the National School Maintenance Week 2017 dubbed as “BRIGADA ESKWELA” with the theme: “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan".
