The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), led by Gov. Aris Aumentado, has begun preparations for the 2026 Sandugo Festival, adopting a culture-driven and adaptive approach that sustains economic opportunities while remaining responsive to current conditions.
During the Sandugo Initiation Meeting on April 23, 2026 at the Ceremonial Hall, Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, Senior Administrative Officer John Maraguinot, with department heads, and office representatives, led the alignment of plans for the annual celebration.
Maraguinot highlighted the need to streamline activities in consideration of El Niño and energy conservation efforts, while maximizing community engagement and economic gains.
Building on its evolution from six streams in 2023 to eight fully implemented streams in 2025—PASIUNA, TABO, BIBO, TIGI, TAPOK, BARAS, ATIMAN, and BANTAWAN—various offices presented their plans for 2026. CCAD will handle PASIUNA, BIBO, and TABO; PYDO will lead TIGI; BPTO will oversee BARAS; and MOU will take charge of ATIMAN, with BEDIPO, OPA, and OPV actively implementing other festival components.
Through strengthened collaboration and streamlined programming, the province aims to deliver a responsive and culturally grounded Sandugo Festival for Boholanos.
The 2026 Sandugo Festival aligns with the Provincial Government of Bohol’s Strategic Change Agenda, particularly advancing Sustainable Tourism by promoting culturally rooted celebrations that support local livelihoods across the Bohol Island Geopark.
