Brigada Eskwela 2026

The 2nd Training Group, TRACOM, PA actively participated in the nationwide Brigada Eskwela 2026, which concluded today prior to the opening of classes on June 8, 2026. Students from five (5) career courses were deployed to elementary and secondary schools within the area to provide manpower support for various school improvement activities, including cleanup drives, repair and maintenance works, and the repainting of classrooms, chairs, and tables.

This year's theme, "Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman," aligns with the Army’s CARE Program, which seeks to uplift communities through the spirit of bayanihan by fostering meaningful partnerships and collaboration with the education sector.

Through this initiative, the unit reaffirmed its commitment to community service and nation-building by helping create a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for both students and teachers.

Combatives: Self-Awareness and Survival

Camp Chatto Training Area – Students of the 2nd Training Period, Calendar Year 2026, underwent Combatives training as part of their non-academic activities.
Combatives refers to the reality-based martial arts and hand-to-hand combat system employed by the Philippine Army. This training emphasizes survival, situational awareness, de-escalation techniques, and weapons integration in high-stress, real-life situations.

The program is designed to equip soldiers with the skills and mindset necessary to respond effectively to various threats and challenges encountered in the field. Beyond its tactical applications, Combatives also promotes discipline, confidence, and self-awareness—qualities essential to both military service and daily life.

2nd Training Group Kicks Off 1st Anniversary Celebration with Joint Medical Mission

Tubigon, Bohol — The 2nd Training Group, TRACOM, PA, officially launched its week-long 1st Anniversary Celebration through a Joint Medical Mission held in Barangay Bagongbanwa, Tubigon, Bohol.

The humanitarian activity was conducted in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Tubigon, volunteer doctors from the Mindanao Humanitarian Volunteers for Peace, various financial institutions, business establishments, civic organizations, and other stakeholders committed to community service and nation-building.

Hundreds of residents from Barangay Bagongbanwa and nearby island communities benefited from the medical mission. Services provided included medical consultations, dental treatments, pediatric care, circumcision (tuli), distribution of medicines and vitamins, and other essential healthcare services.

The activity reflected the Philippine Army’s commitment to serving the Filipino people beyond its core mandate. It also emphasized the value of collaboration among government agencies, private organizations, and community partners in promoting public health and improving the well-being of local communities.

As the 2nd Training Group marks its foundation and excellence, it remains steadfast in its mission of developing competent, disciplined, and service-oriented soldiers while strengthening its partnership with the stakeholders and communities it serve.

Through initiatives such as this Joint Medical Mission, the 2nd Training Group continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment and dedication to community development, and the pursuit of lasting peace and progress.

GROUP COMMANDER’S TIME

The 2nd Training Group, TRACOM, PA officially opened the 2nd Training Period, CY 2026 Career Courses at Camp Chatto Training Area through the conduct of the Group Commander’s Time as its premiere activity.

During the dialogue with the students of 2TP, CY 2026, 2TG Group Commander, Colonel Sonny E. Gonzales, shared his guidance and emphasized the importance of exerting extra effort in both academic and non-academic activities to successfully overcome the challenges of the course. He likewise stressed the value of discipline and strict adherence to the chain of command.

The Group Commander’s Time serves as an essential venue to ensure that both faculty and students clearly understand the commander’s intent. It also provides an opportunity for the students to personally meet the Group Commander and the unit staff, fostering communication and strengthening rapport within the organization.

The 2TP, CY 2026 is composed of 4 infantry courses: 1 Officer Advance Course, 1 NCO Advance Course, 2 NCO Basic Courses, and 1 NCO Basic Adjutant General Service Course, the first course of its kind offered in the Visayas.

Turnover Ceremony of Commanding Officer, 3TSSU

At Camp Lino I. Chatto, the unit facilitated the Turnover Ceremony of the Commanding Officer of the 3rd Training Support and Services Unit, TSSC, TSG, TRACOM, PA. During the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Junel D. Uden formally relinquished command to Major Melvin M. Labor. The significant event was presided over by Colonel Sonny E. Gonzales, 2TG Group Commander.

In his message, Colonel Gonzales commended the outgoing Commanding Officer for his hard work, dedication, and commitment in carrying out the given tasks. He likewise welcomed the incoming Acting Commanding Officer and expressed confidence in his leadership and commitment to work hand in hand with the unit toward the successful accomplishment of its mission.

As an Operational Control (OPCON) unit, 3TSSU is responsible for the maintenance and security of the Camp Chatto Training Area. The unit plays a vital role in ensuring that all training facilities and equipment remain functional, while safeguarding the safety and security of all personnel and students undergoing training.

Lapu-Lapu Troopers completed the Battalion Evaluation and Certification Program (BECP)

Brgy. Salag, Siaton, Negros Occidental — The 11th Infantry “Lapu-Lapu” Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army, completed the Battalion Evaluation and Certification Program (BECP) under the supervision of the Training Command, Philippine Army.
The BECP remains a vital mechanism in ensuring the operational readiness, combat effectiveness, and professional competence of Philippine Army units, particularly infantry battalions. The evaluation rigorously covered critical areas such as tactical proficiency, leadership, administrative management, and overall mission capability.

The results affirmed the battalion’s strong capabilities and clearly identified areas for further improvement. The program continues to play a decisive role in sustaining excellence, strengthening interoperability, and aligning units with modern defense requirements.

Brigadier General Jason V. Jumawan, Commander of the 302nd Brigade, commended the Lapu-Lapu Troopers under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Sol I. Zaulda for their high level of discipline, thorough preparation, and strong commitment to service standards. He also recognized the evaluators, headed by Colonel Sonny E. Diagnostic activities such as Land Navigation, swimming proficiency tests, Physical Fitness Test, and written examination are conducted to identify the specific strengths, weaknesses, and performance gaps of students. The primary purpose of these assessments is to provide a basis for precise and targeted interventions that will help students cope with the physical, mental, and technical demands expected in military training. These activities also assist instructors in determining the level of preparedness of each student and in designing an appropriate training approach to improve overall performance and readiness.
