It’s a wrap!
As the City Government of Tuguegarao acknowledges the vital role of the youth in governance particularly through their competitive, excellent, and competent participation, Student Congress 2022 was held last December 19-20, 2022 at Hotel Ivory.
The program was attended to by student leaders from different schools in the City. It is part of the plans of the administration under the leadership of Mayor Maila S. Ting-Que in empowering the youth and allowing them to take part in the shared responsibility of the government and its people.
The two-day activity was strategically designed to promote both strengthened and enriched leadership skills of student leaders in their respective areas of responsibility. It also gave them an opportunity to formulate solutions to effect the change they desire.
Day 1
Students were given time to reflect on morality and the importance of Smart and Effective Planning. On the same day, student leaders were given templates for their program proposals of which they presented the next day.
Day 2
Student leaders were presented concepts in Psychology to help them better understand their roles in the civic community. They were also reminded of their roles and responsibilities under the law and in their community while embracing new trends in governance and community through the establishment of effective, responsive, and enabling mechanisms in forging youth participation in local governance.
City Mayor Maila S. Ting-Que, through the Local Youth Development Office and its Youth Moral Recovery Program, promotes that the interest of the youth is well protected for while encouraging the preservation of good values. With this program and Youth Congress activity, the youth were able to identify specific steps on how they can further develop their social and emotional learning competencies.
