On May 20, 2026, CHR R2 conducted an interview with a concerned client in coordination with barangay officials of Barangay Oscariz in Ramon, Isabela regarding a reported community concern.

The activity was carried out through dialogue and information gathering involving both the concerned individual and local officials to better understand the circumstances surrounding the matter.

The initiative aimed to assess the situation, obtain relevant details from the parties involved, and support appropriate action consistent with human rights principles and due process.

CHR Regional Office 2 Special Investigators attended the Intermediate Investigation Training held on May 25–26, 2026 at Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA, Quezon City.

The training gathered CHR personnel from various regional offices to further strengthen their knowledge, skills, and competencies in the conduct of investigations and case handling. The activity also served as a platform for learning exchange and reinforcing the Commission’s commitment to effective, impartial, and rights-based investigations.

On May 20, 2026, the Commission on Human Rights Region II (CHR R2) conducted a monitoring presence during the implementation of an ongoing demolition activity in Barangay Labinab, Cauayan City.

Present during the activity were CHR R2 personnel, Chief of Police PLTCOL Avelino Canceran, Sheriff Pableo, and concerned barangay officials. The monitoring was conducted onsite to observe the actual implementation of the demolition and coordinate with authorities and stakeholders present.

The activity aimed to help ensure that proper procedures were followed and that the rights and welfare of affected individuals were respected throughout the conduct of the demolition.

On May 20, 2026, CHR R2 conducted monitoring activity at the Cabagan Bahay Pag-Asa in Cabagan, Isabela to assess the condition and situation of Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) under the facility’s care.

The monitoring activity was carried out by CHR R2 Investigators through onsite inspection, dialogue with concerned personnel, and observation of the facility’s operations and interventions. It aimed to evaluate how the institution implements programs and measures that uphold the welfare, protection, rehabilitation, and rights of children in custody.

The initiative forms part of CHR’s continuing mandate to ensure that facilities handling children provide humane treatment and maintain standards consistent with child rights and protection policies.

CHR Region 2 discussed the upcoming “AkoBatayan” Youth Suffrage Education Caravan during a live Zoom interview aired over Bombo Radyo Philippines Tuguegarao on May 25, 2026 at about 11:00 o’clock in the morning hosted by Bombo Nixson Marcelo. Discussions focused on the upcoming Youth Suffrage Education Caravan, set on May 26, 2026 at SM City Tuguegarao.

The caravan is a nationwide, non-partisan voter education campaign spearheaded by the Commission on Human Rights in partnership with the National Youth Commission. The initiative aims to empower the youth through voter education, responsible citizenship, and informed democratic participation.

The activity also promotes the message “Ako Batayan” or “I am the standard,” encouraging the youth to uphold integrity, accountability, and critical thinking in choosing leaders and participating in nation-building.

CHR R02 and NYC extend its appreciation to partner agencies, namely: COMELEC R02, DICT R02, DOLE R02, PIA R02, CHRE partners, SM City Tuguegarao and LGU Tuguegarao- LYDO for their invaluable support in the successful conduct of the activity.
