MYTH: “COMELEC decides when nationwide regular elections are held.”

✅ FACT: The dates of nationwide regular elections are prescribed by the Constitution or by laws enacted by Congress. The Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) constitutional mandate is to enforce and administer all laws and regulations relating to the conduct of elections.

Once the law prescribes the election date, COMELEC undertakes the necessary preparations and administers the election in accordance with the Constitution and applicable laws.

📌 Important to know:

COMELEC may postpone voting only in specific areas under circumstances provided by law, such as violence, terrorism, force majeure, or other causes that make the holding of elections impossible, pursuant to the Omnibus Election Code.

📢 2026 BARANGAY AND SANGGUNIANG KABATAAN ELECTIONS (BSKE)

DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENT IN FILING A CERTIFICATE OF CANDIDACY (COC)

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) reminds all aspiring candidates for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) to ensure that all required documentary requirements are complete before filing their Certificate of Candidacy (COC).

Pursuant to COMELEC Resolution Nos. 10924, 11191, and 11196, an incomplete COC shall not be accepted. Aspirants are encouraged to review the documentary requirements and prepare all necessary documents in advance to facilitate the smooth processing of their COC.

📅 Filing Period:
September 28 – October 5, 2026
🕗 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. (No Noon Break)

For complete information, please refer to COMELEC Resolution Nos. 10924, 11191, and 11196, or visit the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) having jurisdiction over the area where you intend to file your COC.
