The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Regional Office 2 celebrated this yearโs Nutrition Month with the theme โNutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!โ on July 23, 2026 at the Pamegafanan Hall, DEPDev/ RDC Building and Office Grounds/ Gymnasium, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City.
The celebration commenced with a Tree Planting Activity, where officials and employees actively participated in planting trees within the office premises. The activity highlighted the vital connection between environmental conservation and nutrition, emphasizing that a healthy environment is essential in ensuring food security, sustainable agriculture, and the overall well-being of communities.
One of the highlights of the celebration was a lecture delivered by Ms. Renee Justine B. Baculi, RND, City Nutrition Program Coordinator of the Tuguegarao City Health Office. Her presentation, entitled "Climate Change: Its Implication in Nutrition", discussed the growing effects of climate change on food production, food accessibility, nutritional status, and public health. The lecture also encouraged participants to become advocates of sustainable practices that contribute to both environmental protection and improved nutrition outcomes.
The celebration continued with the much-awaited CookFest, where employees showcased their creativity and culinary skills by preparing nutritious and innovative dishes aligned with the Nutrition Month theme.
The activity promoted healthy eating habits while encouraging teamwork and collaboration among participating groups.
In the afternoon, employees enthusiastically participated in NutriSports โ Laro ng Lahi (Nutrition Month Edition), fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and physical wellness through fun-filled games.
Through activities that integrated nutrition education, environmental advocacy, healthy food preparation, and physical activity, DEPDev Region II reaffirmed its commitment to promoting holistic wellness among its workforce while supporting sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
