Pursuant to Proclamation No 551, s. 1995 "Declaring the last week of October every year thereafter as the National Correctional Consciousness Week".

In line with the celebration of National Correctional Consciousness Week (NACOCOW) 2024 with the theme "Makataong Pakiktungo. Matinong Pamumuno at Matatag na Prinsipyo,Tungo sa Maunlad na Serbisyong Pampiitan", SJO4 Mary Jane A Melad, Jail Warden, spearheads the hanging of tarpaulin inside and outside the jail together with the Welfare Development Unit headed by SJO1 Evelyn G Corpuz and other personnel.

The said activity is a week-long celebration from October 21-27,2024 for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) which aims to commemorate and recognize the inherent human rights (PDL) that, despite being incarcerated, they too, deserve respect and dignity.

THE WOMAN BEHIND TUGUEGARAO CITY DISTRICT JAIL-FEMALE DORMITORY (TCDJ-FD)

SJO4 Jane T Dalupang, who hails from San Pablo, Isabela, is a nurse by profession. Before she became the Acting Warden of TCDJ-FD she was the Officer-In-Charge of Cabagan District Jail, a male-dominated jail facility. But this did not hinder her to lead, as she is well-equipped with leadership skills and capability of a strong and determined jail officer. Making Cabagan District Jail receive various awards and commendations during her stint as the OIC.

Now as she leads TCDJ-FD, various programs and best practices are being implemented for the benefit of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) and the community. With her marching order, "Together, we can make things possible.", Tuguegarao City District Jail-Female Dorm will surely be working as one, promote change and make something happen.

UNDAS 2023

In Christian belief, November 1st is the day remembering all the Saints of the church who have attained to heaven.

Moreover, in Filipino tradition, it is the beginning of commemorating our departed loved ones through visiting their tombs, offering prayers and flowers and lighting candles as a symbol of love and hope for peaceful salvation.

In connection, to promote a peaceful and safe celebration of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day from November 1-2, 2023, this unit through the supervision of SJO4 Clara Edena C Laggui, Officer-In-Charge, participated in the observance of UNDAS 2023 through augmentation of JO1 Jaytie A Bibbigan, Unit Jail Nurse at Cataggaman Pardo Cemetery, Cataggaman Pardo, Tuguegarao City. The team consists of the personnel from BJMP Tuguegarao City District Jail Female and Male Dormitory, Philippine National Police and a representative of Bombo Radyo Tuguegarao.

The team conducted roving inspection within the area of responsibility to check any presence of disturbances or conflicts and to give a hand to the visitors who are in need of assistance.

Tuguegarao City District Jail Female Dormitory promotes a clean and healthy environment and coastal area in which a weekly conduct of Coastal Clean-Up drive was continuously observed.

Anent to this, seven (7) personnel of this jail unit through the direct participation and leadership of SJO4 Clara Edena C Laggui, Officer-In-Charge, conducted Coastal Clean-Up Drive activity along the stretch of Cataggaman River Control, Cataggaman Nuevo, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan wherein the team gathered one (1) trash can filled with garbage such as dried leaves, cigarette butts, twigs, plastic bottles, barbecue sticks, disposable cups and used plastic bags.

This activity shows how the BJMP family supports the campaign of the Local Government Unit of Cagayan in maintaining a clean municipality especially near the Cagayan River to avoid water pollution that can endanger the life of the marine animals and can cause flooding to the low land areas.

It also aims to serve as a motivation to the community particularly to the youth nowadays in order to encourage them to participate in the beautification of our environment.

DTI-IBP-BJMP JOINT FORCE IN ENHANCING THE SKILLS OF PERSONS DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY OF TUGUEGARAO CITY DISTRICT JAIL FEMALE DORMITORY.
Last October 28, 2023, through the guidance of SJO4 Clara Edena C Laggui, Officer-In-Charge, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines - Cagayan Chapter led by Atty. Girlie Mae D. Cuntapay, Chairperson and GAD Committee and the Department of Trade and Industry – Region 02 represented by Atty. Michael B. Paggabao, OIC-Chief SMEDD jointly initiated the program, dubbed as, “Hope Behind Bars. A Livelihood Opportunity for Women Persons Deprived of Liberty” through Skills Training on Scented Candle Making in this jail facility. The 2-day capacity building activity was actively participated and successfully completed by the personnel designate Skills Enhancement Program Officer and twenty – four (24) PDL. A total of Php7,000.00 worth of training materials provided by the above-mentioned agencies was utilized during the activity. The participants were taught and assisted by Mr. Dante Miravel, the Trainor, the fundamentals of candle making such as design testing and development, correct wax melting temperatures and pouring techniques. The partakers were also allowed to combine their manual abilities with their floating and fragrant candles.
During the Closing Program, Atty. Joel C. Agra, Judge, MTC – Tuao, Cagayan joined the abovementioned attendees from IBP-Cagayan Chapter and DTI-Region 02 on October 29, 2023. Certificate of Completion was awarded to the personnel and all PDL participants. On the other hand, Atty. Michael B. Paggabao, Project Director, presented Certificate of Award from the DTI-Region 02, as proof of its commitment to provide livelihood kits to Women Persons Deprived of Liberty amounting Php 37,500.00. The Chairperson of IBP-Cagayan pledged to support the PDL in marketing their products for sustainability of the new income generating livelihood activity. The activity culminated after awarding a Certificate of Appreciation to the IBP-Cagayan Chapter and DTI officers, as our token of appreciation for the gender responsive support to our PDL.
This activity aims to to help the PDL acquire skills and entrepreneurial knowledge for sustainability and preparation for reintegration to the mainstream and to enjoin the cooperation of all personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty for the appropriate, peaceful and successful implementation of the line-up of activities during the weeklong celebration.
