Demonstrating its continued commitment to promoting creativity, innovation, and product development, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 - Cagayan Provincial Office, through Business Development Division Chief Cynthia C. Talattad, served on the Board of Judges during the Cabibi Arts and Crafts Contest, one of the festivalโs highlight events of the 445th Patronal Town Fiesta and 26th Cabibi Festival, held on July 30, 2026, at the Lal-lo Municipal Grounds.
The contest brought together 13 elementary and six secondary public and private schools across the municipality, with participants showcasing their creativity through unique and innovative artworks. Joining Ms. Talattad on the Board of Judges were Mr. Henry Abad, Founder and Creative Head of OPA Creative Lab Prints and Design Solutions, and Ms. Jenifer Baquiran, Provincial Tourism Officer of Cagayan. Their combined expertise in product development, creative design, and tourism promotion contributed to a fair and credible evaluation of the entries.
Anchored on the festival theme, โCabibi Gems in the Digital Spotlight, Living Our Best Life,โ the competition highlighted the rich cultural heritage, creativity, and craftsmanship of the people of Lal-lo. The entries featured an impressive array of functional and decorative creations, including clothing and gowns, accessories, bags, sculptures, wall dรฉcor, chandeliers, and other artistic pieces crafted primarily from Cabibi shells and other locally available and recycled materials.
In the Elementary Category, Paranum Elementary School emerged as Champion, followed by San Antonio Elementary School as 1st Runner-Up and Cullit Elementary School as 2nd Runner-Up. In the High School Category, Lal-lo National High School was declared Champion, while Logac National High School and Cabayabasan National High School were named 1st Runner-Up and 2nd Runner-Up, respectively.
Through its participation, DTI R2 Cagayan underscored the value of initiatives that foster innovation, nurture young talents, and promote the sustainable use of indigenous resources. The Cabibi Arts and Crafts Contest serves as a platform for preserving local heritage, encouraging the development of functional and market-oriented products, and showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship that contribute to Lal-loโs unique identity.
