The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II (MGB RO II) informs the public that a Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) is being implemented pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 114 of the Office of the President on the adoption of energy conservation protocols and flexible work arrangements in government offices.

Under this arrangement, MGB RO II shall adopt a combination of on-site work and compressed workweeks aimed at promoting employee well-being, operational efficiency, and sustainable resource management, while ensuring the continuous and quality delivery of public services.

To ensure continuous and seamless assistance, the public is advised to plan and schedule their transactions accordingly:

On-site transactions: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Online transactions: Friday

As part of its commitment to promote geoscience awareness and environmental stewardship, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Miss Philippines Earth, recently conducted the Eco-Explorer: “Geologist for a Day” activity in Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya.

The initiative aimed to offer environmental advocates a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of geologists and to experience firsthand the science and fieldwork that define the profession.

As part of the “Geologist for a Day” experience, Miss Philippines Earth-Fire 2025 Kate Gatpandan and Miss Philippines Earth- Water 2025 Austhrie Sanchez immersed themselves in guided activities that showcased the day-to-day responsibilities of geologic fieldwork👷.

Through “Geologist for a Day,” the MGB emphasized the vital role of geologists in understanding earth’s processes, disaster risk reduction, and responsible mineral development. 💎

The event was spearheaded by DENR Strategic Communication and Initiatives Services, Mines and Geosciences Bureau and in collaboration with OceanaGold Philippines, Inc.

Following the success of its initial rollout, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has continued the implementation of its “Permitting on Wheels” program as a regular nationwide initiative aimed at bringing government environmental services closer to communities.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II (MGB RO II) remains an active participant in the program, providing accessible frontline services to stakeholders and clients in various localities across the region. The initiative seeks to make government transactions more convenient by bridging DENR permitting services directly to the communities.

As part of its services, MGB RO II assists clients in securing geohazard certifications, accessing updated geohazard maps, and obtaining Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials related to geosciences and responsible resource management. The Bureau also provides guidance on area status clearances, key requirements for Commercial Sand and Gravel (CSAG) and Industrial Sand and Gravel (ISAG) applications.

Now sustained as a continuous activity across the country, the DENR “Permitting on Wheels” program reflects the Department’s commitment to improving public service delivery, streamlining permitting processes, and strengthening engagement with communities at the grassroots level.

To show its support for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II recently participated in the Angels Walk for Autism at SM City Tuguegarao.

The activity brought together various government agencies, LGU organizations, and community members in promoting awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for persons with autism.

Through the walk, participants expressed solidarity in building a more compassionate and understanding society where everyone is valued and empowered.

|| DENR, Miss Philippines Earth mark Earth Day with eco-explorer activity
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in partnership with Miss Philippines Earth, launched the Eco-Explorer: “Geologist for a Day” activity on April 22, 2026 in Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya.
Held in line with the observance of Earth Day, the initiative aimed to provide environmental advocates and partners with a deeper appreciation of the work of geologists. The activity highlighted the important role they play in understanding the Earth’s processes, managing natural resources, and supporting environmental protection and community development.
As part of the “Geologist for a Day” experience, Miss Philippines Earth-Fire 2025 Kate Gatpandan and Miss Philippines Earth-Water 2025 Austhrie Sanchez participated in guided activities that showcased the day-to-day responsibilities of geologists in the field.
Through the activity, the beauty queens gained valuable insights into how geologists study the Earth, assess natural resources, and contribute to informed decision-making for sustainable development.
The Eco-Explorer program is designed to give partners and stakeholders an immersive look into DENR’s core functions, highlighting the work of geologists, foresters, and wildlife protection officers.
