The Sweet Waters Garden Resort is an inland swimming resort located within the peaceful and bountiful environment of Tupi, the fruit, flower and vegetable basket of South Cotabato. Matutum in the Municipality of Tupi, Province of South Cotabato, the Philippines. The town prides itself of its rustic ambiance; a friendly, typhoon-free, tropical climate all year round; and a bountiful harvest from i
ts fertile lands of almost all kinds of tropical fruits, flowers, vegetables, and major agricultural crops such as rice, corn and coconuts. Many of the products from Tupi find their way to the fruit, vegetable and flower stands of Manila, Cebu, Davao, and even other countries. The orchards of Kablon Farms, an international exporter of processed fruit products, can be found in Tupi. A huge portion of Tupi's land area is occupied by pineapple, banana, papaya, asparagus, guava and coconut plantations of private growers and some multi-national corporations. Poblacion, Tupi, where Sweet Waters Garden Resort is located; is along the national highway between General Santos City (Gensan) where an international airport and a major wharf is located; and Koronadal City, the provincial capital of South Cotabato. Tupi is around 40 minutes drive from Gensan and 10-15 minutes drive to Koronadal. The resort was established on land originally developed by the late Pablo B. Ponce, a civil servant in his time and one of the pioneers of Tupi. The resort area was landscaped in such a way that blends recreational facilities with a garden-orchard setting. The frontage of the resort is a half-hectare mini-forest. The swimming pools were converted from fish ponds constructed as early as the late 1950's. All these pools are continuously overflowing with fresh water from natural springs scattered all over the property. Minimal water treatment (chlorination) is undertaken to preserve the freshness of the water. Open huts for picnics are located under the shade of fruit trees; native-inspired cottages and function halls were constructed in a way that allows the best view of the swimming pools and nearby mountains, including Mt. Matutum; the back portion of the resort is surrounded by fish ponds where tilapia and pangasius (cream dory) are available for fishing; a nearby stream provides a calm, therapeutic background to the sound of birds and crickets, especially at night. Sweet Waters Garden Resort is a mere 2 blocks from the national highway and just a few meters from the Tupi Public Market and Bus Terminal. Regular business days at Sweet Waters Garden Resort are from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Tuesdays to Sundays but customers are welcome to use the place at night or during Mondays and Tuesdays through prior arrangement with the front desk (tel: +63 83 8220134).
