LAUNCHING OF PROJECT READVENTURE
Three Programs, One Reading Adventure!
Project READ-MAP · Project MAPA-BASA
The launching of Project READVENTURE, the umbrella reading program of Binabalian Elementary School, was conducted on September 17, 2026, during the General School Assembly. Proposed by Mailyn B. Cruz, EdD, the program serves as the overarching initiative that brings together the school’s reading interventions to address learners’ reading needs and strengthen their literacy skills.
Project READVENTURE is implemented through two main programs: Project READ-MAP (Mapping Stories, Strengthening Reading Comprehension), spearheaded by Eurika Mae F. Batalla, and Project MAPA-BASA, spearheaded by Gigie D. Nanquil. These complementary programs aim to provide meaningful and structured reading activities that enhance learners’ reading comprehension and promote the development of proficient, confident, and independent readers.
During the assembly, the purpose, objectives, and implementation of Project READVENTURE and its two main programs were introduced to learners, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders. The presentation emphasized the importance of providing appropriate reading interventions based on learners’ needs and abilities.
Under Project READ-MAP, learners are guided in understanding stories through the story mapping strategy. They learn to identify characters, setting, problems, important events, and solutions, enabling them to organize ideas, sequence events, recall details, and retell stories more effectively. Meanwhile, Project MAPA-BASA complements this initiative by providing structured reading activities that support the improvement of learners’ reading comprehension and literacy development.
The launching was supported by the Barangay Officials of Binabalian, whose participation demonstrated the importance of collaboration between the school and the community. Parents were encouraged to support reading activities at home, while teachers and other stakeholders were invited to contribute to the successful implementation and sustainability of the program.
The school also emphasized the importance of monitoring learners’ progress and providing differentiated support to ensure that the interventions respond to their individual reading needs. Through the coordinated implementation of Project READ-MAP and Project MAPA-BASA under Project READVENTURE, the school aims to strengthen its literacy initiatives and establish a sustainable culture of reading.
