The Local Government Unit of Upi, through its Local Youth Development Office, partnered with the Upi Youth Governance Program Batch Sibol to hold the 2024 Youth Congress on October 31, 2024, at the Upi Municipal Gymnasium.

This event brought together all Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons and all accredited youth organizations in the municipality, each represented by their elected presidents and key officers.

During the congress, Upi Youth Governance Program Batch 10 Youth Mayor Ezekiel Mondia presented the Anti-Poverty Agenda. Her presentation included a discussion of the specific challenges faced by the youth and the strategic initiatives designed to combat poverty in the community.

Additionally, Local Youth Development Officer Pearl G. Chiong engaged attendees in a comprehensive discussion about the three-year Local Youth Development Plan (LYDP) and facilitated the formulation of the LYDP for the ensuing year.

The Local Government Unit of Upi, under the leadership of Mayor Ma. Rona Cristina A. Piang-Flores, has recently acquired a motor grader to better serve the residents of Upi and meet the needs of barangay LGUs.

The blessing of the newly purchased heavy equipment was officiated by Fr. Angel Singco,OMI and was attended by the Municipal Mayor, Members of the Sangguniang Bayan, LGU department heads, and local functionaries in front of the Municipal Town Hall.

The allocated budget for the motor grader amounted to 10,795,000.00.

In accordance with Municipal Resolution No. 41 Ordinance No. 06 series of 2019, the Municipality of Upi celebrates Indigenous Peoples Day on the 29th day of October each year, coinciding with the National Indigenous Peoples Month. This year, the National Indigenous Peoples Month Program and Thanksgiving Day were held under the theme “Mga Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan, at Parangalan.”

The celebration began with Kanduli rites, followed by a parade featuring the Teduray tribe showcasing their traditional dances and playing musical instruments around the town.

The event was attended by Mayor Ma. Rona Cristina A. Piang-Flores, Vice Mayor Wilfredo T. Ibanez, the 18th Sangguniang Bayan Members, Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative Hon. Rolando Juan, Sr., Member of Parliament Hon. Ramon A. Piang, Sr., Minister of MIPA-BARMM Hon. Melanio Ulama, Maguindanao del Norte Provincial IPMR Hon. Giamal Abdullahman Campong, representatives and guests from the Office of MP Froilyn T. Suspendido pa rin ang klase sa lahat ng antas ng paaralang pampubliko at pribado sa buong nasasakupan ng Bayan ng Upi ngayong araw, October 23, dulot ng sama ng panahon.

Pinapayuhan ang lahat na pag-ibayuhin ang pag-iingat at manatiling alerto sa lahat ng oras.

Patuloy na i-monitor ang mga anunsyo mula sa lokal na pamahalaan at mga ahensya ng panahon para sa mga susunod na impormasyon.

In order to provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe traditional AIl Saints' Day and All Souls' Day activities, allow them to travel to and from different regions in the country, and promote domestic tourism, work in government offices and classes at all levels shall be suspended on 31 October 2024 starting 12:00 p.m.

However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.

The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.

This Circular shall take effect immediately.
