Planting the seeds of love, respect, and commitment πŸŒ±πŸ§‘β€πŸ§‘β€πŸ§’β€πŸ§’

The LGU-UPI, through its Pre-Marriage Orientation (PMO) Team successfully conducted a PMO Seminar on March 19, 2026, with a total of 36 couples in attendance.

The session aimed to equip the couples with vital knowledge and guidance emphasizing the significance of marriage, responsible parenthood, and the promotion of a harmonious, healthy, and stable family life.

On February 26, 2026, the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Central Office (CO) and CPD Region XII, together with the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Commission on Population Interim Office, conducted the pre-testing of Pre/Post Marriage Orientation in Islamic Context activity at Upi Municipal Conference Hall.

The activity was participated in by six (6) Muslim couples from Upi. This was facilitated by CPD BARMM, the Ministry of Health BARMM, and personnel from the Ministry of Social Services and Development, as well as Ustadz. While CPD CO, represented by Ms. Jane Casimiro, and CPD RXII, represented by Ms. Maria Fe Esmundo, observed the process flow of the activity and jotted down possible modifications, which will be provided as feedback during their workshop after the pre-testing activity.

The pre-testing was made to assess the appropriateness and efficiency of the topic components for the target participants. This is to pre-test the comprehensive Pre-Marriage Orientation (PMO) Manual through interactive sessions with would-be-couples, gathering feedback on content relevance, cultural appropriateness, and educational effectiveness within the Bangsamoro context.

The activity concluded with positive feedback from participants, who expressed appreciation for the meaningful discussions tailored to their cultural and religious context.

The Local Government Unit of Upi, Population Program Office, with the support of the PMO, remains steadfast in its mission to promote responsible parenthood and strengthen Filipino families, emphasizing the importance of marriage preparation, family planning, maternal and child health, gender respect, communication within marriage, and shared responsibilities in building a strong and harmonious family across the municipality.

The immersion students from Notre Dame of Upi, Inc. successfully completed their community immersion at the Local Government Unit of Upi, under the Office of the Population Program.

Muhaimin Husain, Katrina Martin, Floresa Maning, and Jezreel Julio actively assisted in office tasks and community-related activities, gaining valuable knowledge and practical experience in public service. Their immersion allowed them to better understand the role of local government in promoting population programs and community development.

The students sincerely express their gratitude to the Local Government Unit of Upi, especially the Office of the Population Program, for the guidance, support, and opportunity to learn.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Upi, Population Program Office, awarded Certificates of Completion to four work immersion students of Saint Francis Episcopal School of Upi Incorporated, in recognition of their successful completion of their work immersion program.

The studentsβ€”Christal Vea Trabajada Demausa, Justin Mae Dacuscus Dismanus, Gina Mae Mosarta Maximo, and Rhea Mae Delos Santos Melendezβ€”were deployed to the LGU of Upi Population Program Office.

They were given the opportunity to assist in various youth-focused and community-based activities. During their deployment, the students actively participated in administrative tasks, document preparation, organizing records, and supporting programs and services delivered to the public. Additionally, they also assissted in the operation of the Community Teen Center.

Through their hands-on experienced, the students gained valuable knowledge about local governance, social services, population management initiatives, and community development programs. Their dedication, professionalism, and willingness to learn were evident throughout their immersion period and were highly appreciated by the offices they served.

The awarding of the Certificates of Completion marked the culmination of their required training hours and responsibilities under the Senior High School Work Immersion Program. More importantly, these recognized their growth, commitment, and readiness to take on greater responsibilities in their future endeavor.

The partnership between Saint Francis Episcopal School of Upi, Incorporated and the Local Government Unit of Upi continues to provide meaningful learning opportunities that bridge academic knowledge with real-world public service experience.

πŸ“’ Strengthening Our Families and Community πŸ’πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

The LGU Upi through its Pre-Marriage Orientation (PMO) Team is continuously implementing the PMO Seminar. This is designed to guide and prepare couples as they begin their lifelong journey together.

Additionally, PMO is a mandatory session for all couples applying for a marriage license in the Philippines to provide information on responsible parenthood, family planning, and marriage responsibilities

This program aims to:
βœ… Promote strong, responsible, and God-centered marriages
βœ… Equip couples with knowledge on family life, communication, and conflict resolution
βœ… Encourage shared responsibilities in raising children
βœ… Strengthen the foundation of our future families and our community as a whole
