National Lung Month Celebration

National Lung Month is an annual celebration that happens every August in the Philippines. In accordance with this observance, the City Health Office of Urdaneta City conducts several activities related to lung health.

This 2026 celebration of National Lung Month kicked off with a broadcast of an episode of CHIKALusugan featuring guest speaker Pangasinan pulmonologist Dr. Leo Arcalas. Dr. Arcalas discussed asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and tuberculosis, their symptoms, and available treatments. The episode aired in front of Urdaneta City Hall for the whole month.

On August 12 and 20, the City Health Office, along with PBSP, RCG Premier Foundation Inc., and the Department of Health Ilocos Center for Health and Development, conducted a TB Cough Caravan and Health Promotion in two barangays. On the first day, 156 individuals from Cabuloan were given free chest X-rays. Likewise, 162 individuals from Pinmaludpod were catered to and received free chest X-rays.

On August 14, I was invited to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology - Male Dorm as a resource speaker for Lung Month. The focus of my lecture was TB-HIV.

On August 25, another TB Cough Caravan from PBSP and RCG Premier Foundation Inc. was conducted, this time catering to the BJMP Male and Female Dorms. The CHO provided technical assistance during the event. A total of 415 PDL and 117 BJMP personnel were given free X-rays.

The 2026 Lung Month celebration has proven to be successful. The rate of attendees exceeded
expectations, and the consensus was generally positive.

SERBISYONG RAMDAM MO YAN: BLOODLETTING ACTIVITY🩸

A successful day of giving the gift of life!

The Urdaneta City Health Office – Blood Services Program successfully conducted the “Serbisyong RAMdam Mo Yan: Bloodletting Activity” at the Urdaneta City Cultural and Sports Complex.

With the spirit of bayanihan, compassion, and volunteerism, generous individuals came together to share something truly priceless—their blood—to help patients who may need it during emergencies, surgeries, childbirth, trauma, and other medical conditions.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our partner agencies and organizations, Philippine Red Cross Pangasinan Chapter – Urdaneta Branch, PNP Forensic Group, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Rotary Club of Urdaneta CLuster 2A District 3790 led by President Fernando C. Dela Cruz II, CB Mall Urdaneta, SM Urdaneta Central, Magic Mall Urdaneta, and PCIP Region 1, for their invaluable support and cooperation in making this activity a success.

A special thank you to the Philippine Red Cross Pangasinan Chapter – Urdaneta Branch for their technical expertise, dedication, and continued partnership in promoting safe and voluntary blood donation.

We are also deeply grateful to Hon. Mayor Julio Rammy F. Parayno III for his unwavering support for our health programs; our City Health Officer II, Dr. Rachel Ann A. Parayno, for her leadership and guidance; and our Medical Consultants Dr. Ma. Fe Lagmay, Dr. Bernie Macaraeg, and Dr. Larry Patawaran for their valuable support.

To all CHO staff, volunteers, cultural staff, and everyone who worked behind the scenes, thank you for your time, dedication, and service.

Special recognition to our Blood Services Program Manager, Ms. Suzanne E. Paredes, and our Blood Services Doctor-in-Charge, Dr. Shaina Sofia B. Andrada, for their tireless efforts in coordinating and spearheading this meaningful initiative.

And most importantly, to all our blood donors, our modern day heroes—THANK YOU! Your simple act of giving can mean another chance at life for someone you may never even meet. Because when we give blood, we give hope. We give life. We give a chance for tomorrow.

Dugo mo, buhay ng iba.
Magbigay. Magmalasakit. Magligtas ng buhay.

URDANETA CITY HEALTH OFFICE | DRRM-H HEALTH EMERGENCY RESPONSE

The Urdaneta City Health Office – Disaster Risk Reduction and Management for Health (DRRM-H) Health Emergency Response Team (HERT) activated its Quad Cluster Committees to respond to the health needs of evacuees currently staying at DAPSMECS Main, Brgy. San Vicente, Urdaneta City, and at BADIPA Elementary School and BADIPA National High School, serving evacuees from Brgys. Bayaoas and Dilan-Paurido.

The response was headed by our City Health Officer, Dr. Rachel Ann A. Parayno, with the coordination and support of DRRM-H Program Manager and CHO Nurse Ms. Suzanne Paredes, who facilitated coordination with the evacuation centers and the deployed HERT teams and helped ensure the smooth organization of the emergency health response.

Our Medical and Public Health Cluster, composed of Medical Officers Dr. Marjorie Manongsong, Dr. Cristina Gorospe, and Dr. Shaina Andrada, together with Pharmacist Sir Rayne Abalos, provided medical assessment, appropriate health interventions, and facilitated the distribution of essential medical commodities to evacuees.

The field response was further strengthened by our local health personnel. Ms. Norma Cadimas, Midwife assigned in San Vicente, worked with the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) in providing medical support and attending to the health needs of evacuees at DASMECS. Likewise, Ms. Angie Locquiao, CHO 8 Nurse, together with the BHWs of Bayaoas and Dilan-Paurido, provided additional medical support and assisted in the delivery of health services to the affected families at the BADIPA evacuation centers.

For Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE), Ms. Remy Nidoy helped ensure that the nutritional needs of displaced families were considered and addressed as part of the emergency response.

The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Cluster, composed of Ms. Ann Fritzi Nacis and Ms. Clarizze Pedro, supported the monitoring of water, sanitation, and hygiene conditions in the evacuation centers and promoted measures to help prevent the occurrence and spread of communicable diseases.

Under Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS), Ms. Cherry Mae Soriano provided psychosocial support and attended to the mental and emotional well-being of evacuees affected by the emergency situation.

Meanwhile, our Triage Officers—Ms. Mina Peralta, Ms. Amy Evaristo, Ms. Kyla Geroza, and Ms. Melanie Alvarez—facilitated the initial assessment, prioritization, registration, documentation, and encoding of evacuees to ensure proper identification and monitoring of their health needs.

As part of the emergency health response, the team successfully distributed essential medical commodities to:
145 families at DAPSMECS Main, Brgy. San Vicente
32 families at BADIPA ES & BADIPA NHS, serving Brgys. Bayaoas and Dilan-Paurido
TOTAL OF 177 FAMILIES SERVED

The activation of the HERT Quad Cluster demonstrates the Urdaneta City Health Office’s commitment to a coordinated, multidisciplinary, and community-based emergency health response. From medical care and medicines to nutrition, WASH, psychosocial support, triage, documentation, and field coordination, every component worked together to address the needs of our displaced families.

We also recognize the invaluable support of our barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, and local health personnel, whose presence on the ground helped extend the reach of the City Health Office and ensured that our response reached the communities where it was needed most.

The Urdaneta City Health Office remains committed to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of every evacuee throughout the emergency response.

In times of crisis, we stand together. We respond together. We serve together.

🎥 “USOK NG KATOTOHANAN”

SYNOPSIS

Through facts, evidence, and real-world perspectives, Urdaneta Unfiltered reminds us that addressing ni****ne use is not only a responsibility of the individual—it is a shared responsibility of families, schools, communities, and local government.

Every breath matters. Every choice matters.

Choose health. Choose awareness. Choose a smoke-free and v**e-free future.

🎥 “ULAP: ANG KATOTOHANAN SA LIKOD NG USOK”

SYNOPSIS

May pag-asa pa. May pagkakataon pang magbago.

🎥 “ANG KATOTOHANAN SA LIKOD NG YOSI AT VAPE”

SYNOPSIS

Behind every young person struggling with va**ng may be a silent need to be heard, valued, and loved.

Sometimes, the strongest protection against harmful choices begins at home—with presence, understanding, and unconditional support.

SYNOPSIS

Pagsubok sa Likod ng Usok follows Shaina Soriano, a hardworking and ambitious student whose greatest dream is to succeed and make her family proud.

Known for her perseverance, Shaina constantly puts others before herself while quietly carrying the exhaustion brought by academic burnout, family problems, and the overwhelming pressure of expectations.

But as the weight of her struggles grows heavier, the bright and determined girl everyone admires slowly begins to fade.

Desperate for an escape, Shaina finds comfort in the people she trusts most—her friends. They introduce her to va**ng, disguising it as a harmless way to relieve stress and temporarily escape reality.

What begins as a single moment of curiosity slowly becomes a dark refuge, clouding her judgment and pulling her further away from her dreams, her loved ones, and herself.

The deeper she sinks, the harder it becomes to recognize the person staring back at her.

And when she is finally forced to face the consequences of her choices, one question remains:

Will she wake up before she loses everything?

SYNOPSIS
