Malugod na ipinakilala ang bagong halal na Board of Trustees at Executive Officers ng Timpuyog Daguiti Irrigators Association to Region I (TIARI), Inc. ng NIA Region I.

Ang paghalal sa mga bagong opisyales ay kasabay ng ikalawang pulong kasama ang mga miyembro nito kamakailan na naglayong palakasin pa ang kanilang samahan tungo sa tagumpay ng bawat isa.

Ito ay patunay lamang ng tiwala at kumpiyansa ng mga kasapi tungo sa pagkakaisa, malasakit, katapatan, at dedikasyon sa pagsusulong ng kapakanan ng mga magsasaka at sa patuloy na pagpapaunlad ng mga programang pang-irigasyon sa Rehiyon I.

The National Irrigation Administration–Ilocos Norte Irrigation Management Office (NIA-INIMO) and the NIA–Ilocos Norte-Ilocos Sur-Abra Irrigation Project (NIA-INISAIP) strengthened their disaster preparedness through a joint two-day Disaster Control Group (DCG) Capacity Building held on August 24 and 25, 2026, at the NIA-INIMO Covered Court.

Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection Ilocos Norte (Bfp RegionOne SanNicolas IlocosNorte) Special Rescue Force composed of SFO1 Francis Erickson P. Corpuz, SFO1 Jonathan Marcus B. Salvador and FO3 Walter John S. Esteban and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of San Nicolas headed by Ms. Ryan Rollaine Simon served as resource speakers, providing discussions and practical training on fire prevention, the roles and functions of the DCG, first aid, and rescue operations.

The activity culminated in an earthquake drill, allowing participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the training and reinforcing the importance of preparedness, coordination, and proper emergency response.

𝐔𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐀 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐍 (𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔) — The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region 1 is on its toes in securing irrigation systems and dams in Pangasinan as heavy rains and possible storms threaten to send water levels surging.

NIA-1 regional manager, Engr. Geffrey Catulin said they are closing irrigation intakes to keep additional water from entering canals while opening sluice gates to safely release excess water.

Catulin however said rainwater rushing down from mountains and higher areas can still enter irrigation canals, many of which were designed to deliver water to farms—not handle mountain runoff.

Once canal capacity is exceeded, water can spill into farmlands and eventually reach roads, particularly in areas with poor drainage outlets.

That is why we now factor heavier water flows and climate change into the design of new irrigation projects, including plans for larger-capacity canals, Catulin said.

Among projects seen as potential buffers against excess water is the Dimuloc Small Irrigation Project in Bugallon town which is about 60 percent complete and will include a small reservoir that can also serve as an impounding structure.

The Bayaoas Small Irrigation Project in Aguilar town, meanwhile, remains in the detailed engineering stage as NIA strengthens its preparations for heavier rains and possible storms.

NIA Region 1 said the measures are aimed at keeping irrigation facilities safe while reducing the risk of floodwaters spilling into farms and communities.

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region I proudly receives the Masanting Award for Exceptional Blood Collection Achievement from the Philippine Red Cross – Pangasinan Chapter, in recognition of its meaningful contribution of blood units during Calendar Year 2025.

NIA Region I was likewise recognized through the Scroll of Honor for its continuous participation in providing Red Cross services that contribute to the well-being of humanity.

Adding to this meaningful achievement, Administrative and Finance Division Manager, Ms. Vanessa C. Moulic was recognized as a Bronze Blood Donor—a remarkable testament to compassion and generosity.

These recognitions reflect NIA Region I’s continuing commitment to public service, volunteerism, and community care. Beyond irrigation and agricultural development, NIA employees also extend their service by helping save lives.

Pinapayuhan ang mga komunidad na malapit sa Agno River na lumayo muna sa ilog. Iwasang tumawid, maligo, o mamangka at manatiling alerto sa mga susunod na abiso.

Walang dapat ikabahala, ngunit mahalagang manatiling handa at updated. Patuloy na mag-monitor sa mga opisyal na abiso mula sa mga kinauukulang awtoridad at DRRMO.

Isinagawa ng National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region I ang Ikalawang Pulong kasama ang mga opisyal at miyembro ng Timpuyog Daguiti Irrigator’s Association Ti Region I (TIARI), Inc. noong Agosto 25–26, 2026 sa NIA LARIS Multi-Purpose Hall sa Tomana East, Rosales, Pangasinan. Layunin nitong pag-usapan ang mahahalagang usapin at gawain ng samahan para sa patuloy na maayos na pamamahala at pagpapaunlad ng kanilang mga irrigation facilities at serbisyo sa mga magsasaka.

Tampok din sa pagtitipon ang halalan ng bagong mga opisyal ng organisasyon, na naglalayong palakasin ang pamumuno at pakikilahok ng mga kasapi. Patuloy namang pinatitibay ng NIA Region I ang pakikipagtulungan nito sa mga samahan upang higit na masuportahan ang mga magsasaka.

PANOORIN | Sa Question Hour ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Pangasinan nitong Lunes, Agosto 24, 2026, ibinahagi ng National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region 1 na nagsasagawa ang kanilang tanggapan ng emergency precaution sa mga irrigation structure at dam nito bilang paghahanda sa mga pag-ulan at posibleng pagdaan ng mga bagyo.

Ayon kay NIA Regional Manager Engr. Geffrey Catulin , kabilang sa mga hakbang nila ang pagsasara ng mga intake upang maiwasan ang pagpasok ng tubig sa mga irrigation canal at pagbubukas ng mga sluice gate upang makatulong sa ligtas na pagdaloy ng tubig.

Sa panahon ng malalakas na pag-ulan, nakasarado ang mga intake ng NIA upang walang karagdagang tubig na pumasok sa mga kanal. Gayunman, patuloy na nakapapasok sa mga kanal ang tubig-ulan na nagmumula sa mga kabundukan at matataas na lugar.

Ipinaliwanag ng NIA na ang mga irrigation canal ay matagal nang itinayo at orihinal na idinisenyo para sa paghahatid ng tubig patungo sa mga palayan, hindi bilang drainage system para sa tubig mula sa mga bundok.Dahil dito, nagiging hamon sa kasalukuyan ang pagdami ng tubig na dumadaloy sa mga kanal, lalo na kapag may matinding pag-ulan.

Kapag hindi na kayang saluhin ng mga kanal ang dami ng tubig, maaari itong umapaw patungo sa mga sakahan at kalaunan ay makaapekto sa mga kalsada, partikular sa mga lugar na kulang ang drainage outlet.

Ayon sa NIA, isinasaalang-alang na sa mga isinasagawang design at feasibility study ang epekto ng climate change at pagtaas ng volume ng tubig. Kabilang dito ang pagpapalaki sa kapasidad ng mga kanal upang mas maging angkop sa kasalukuyang kondisyon ng panahon.

Samantala, may mga isinasagawang proyekto sa Pangasinan na inaasahang makatutulong sa water management at pagbawas ng epekto ng pagbaha.Kabilang dito ang Dimuloc Small Irrigation Project sa Bugallon, na nasa 60 porsiyento nang progreso.

Isa itong small reservoir irrigation project na magsisilbi ring impounding structure na makatutulong sa pagharang at pagkontrol sa tubig-ulan.Mayroon ding Bayaoas Small Irrigation Project sa Aguilar, na kasalukuyan pang nasa engineering detailed stage.

Patuloy namang pinaghahandaan ng NIA ang epekto ng mga pag-ulan at paparating na bagyo upang mapanatiling ligtas ang mga irrigation structure at mabawasan ang panganib ng pagbaha sa mga komunidad at sakahan. | via Sarah Cayabyab | Radyo Pilipinas Dagupan

The Senior Deputy Administrator (SDA) of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Engr. Robert C. Suguitan, led officials and technical personnel in inspecting proposed project sites for five Small Reservoir Irrigation Projects (SRIPs), the site for the Paoay Lake Irrigation Project, and other completed projects in Ilocos Norte.

Joining the inspection were Engr. Geffrey B. Catulin, Regional Manager of NIA Region I, Engr. Joselito C. de Vera, Division Manager of the Ilocos Norte Irrigation Management Office (INIMO), the Division Manager of Design and Specifications from Central Office, Engr. Ariel S. Najera, Officer-in-Charge of Ilocos Norte-Ilocos Sur-Abra Irrigation Project, Engr. Joselito C. Mercado and other NIA officials and technical personnel. The team conducted on-site assessments of the proposed SRIP locations and visited completed projects across the province.

The inspection allowed NIA officials and technical personnel to assess the proposed project sites and review completed irrigation infrastructure as part of the agency's ongoing efforts to strengthen irrigation development and support agricultural productivity in Ilocos Norte.
