The success of todayโ€™s activity is a strong reminder that protecting our environment is a shared responsibility. Through the river clean-up and the distribution of seedlings to local communities, we witnessed how much can be achieved when different sectors of society come together with one vision: a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

This initiative would not have been possible without the cooperation and unity of various stakeholders from community residents, youth groups, NGOs, private partners, and most importantly, the presence and leadership of our Local Government Unit (LGU). Their support serves as a backbone in mobilizing people, providing resources, and ensuring that programs for the environment create long-lasting impact.

The river clean-up not only restores the beauty and function of our waterways but also raises awareness on the importance of waste management and care for our rivers. Urdaneta City, Pangasinan โ€” September 3, 2025 โ€” The Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Eastern Pangasinan, under the leadership of CENR Officer Rico G. Biado, spearheaded a river clean-up along the Macalong River in Barangay San Vicente, in observance of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) with the theme โ€œNagkakaisang Kapuluan, Panatag na Karagatan.โ€ The activity was conducted in collaboration with the General Services Office (GSO), Urdaneta District Jail, and the Barangay LGU of San Vicente.

Prior to the clean-up, a short program was held where CENR Officer Biado delivered an inspiring message emphasizing the importance of cleaning rivers as vital parts of seas and oceans. He stressed that while Eastern Pangasinan is landlocked, its waterways remain connected to larger bodies of water, making collective responsibility and collaboration essential. Additional lectures were also delivered by ENMO John Carlo Guillermo and SEMS Jayson Neil De Luna, highlighting environmental awareness, sustainability, and teamwork.

Urdaneta City, Pangasinan โ€“ The Department of Environment and Natural Resources โ€“ Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) Eastern Pangasinan, under the leadership of CENR Officer Rico G. Biado, joined the nation in commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service during the Monday Convocation at the CENR Office, Urdaneta City.

The program, spearheaded by Administrative Officer Silas Arnel Florencio, highlighted this yearโ€™s theme: โ€œBawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan.โ€ The celebration paid tribute to the invaluable role of government employees in advancing good governance and nation-building while also recognizing their dedication, integrity, and excellence in public service.

Through this observance, CENRO Eastern Pangasinan reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the values of honesty, professionalism, and service-oriented leadership in carrying out the mandates of the DENR.
