PILANDOK MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AS IT MOVES NORTH NORTHWESTWARD.
โฃ Location of Center (4:00 PM)
The center of Tropical Depression PILANDOK was estimated based on all available data at 1,145 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (21.6ยฐN, 132.9ยฐE).
โฃ Intensity
Maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and central pressure of 1000 hPa
โฃ Present Movement
North northwestward at 10 km/h
โฃ Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds
Strong winds extend outwards up to 450 km from the center

โฃ Severe Winds
The Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):
โข Today (31 August): Most of the country.
โข Tomorrow (01 September) until Wednesday (02 September): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.
HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS
โฃ 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook
Up to very rough seas over the following coastal waters:
โข Up to 4.5 m: The western seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Ilocos Norte.
โข Sea travel is risky for all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside.
Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
โข Up to 4.0 m: The seaboards of Batanes and northern Ilocos Sur; the northern seaboard of Babuyan Islands.
โข Up to 3.5 m: The seaboards of northern La Union and Zambales; the western seaboards of Pangasinan and Bataan; the remaining seaboard of Ilocos Sur.
โข Up to 3.0 m: The western seaboards of Cavite, Batangas, Lubang Islands, northern Occidental Mindoro, and Calamian Islands; the southern seaboard of Bataan; the northern and western seaboards of Kalayaan Islands.
โข Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under
these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.
Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters:
โข Up to 2.5 m: The western seaboard of northern Palawan; the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental; the remaining seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Kalayaan Islands; the remaining western seaboard of Occidental Mindoro.
โข Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Isabela, Romblon, Cuyo Islands, Antique, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Occidental; the western seaboards of Burias Island and Negros Occidental; the southern seaboards of Marinduque and Quezon; the remaining western seaboard of mainland Palawan; the remaining seaboards of Davao Oriental, La Union, and Pangasinan.
โข Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
โข It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to โOther Hazards affecting Land Areasโ for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
โข PILANDOK may become almost stationary over the Philippine Sea east of Extreme Northern Luzon for the next 36 hours before moving generally north northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period. It is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday (02 September) afternoon or evening. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass. The forecast track is highly uncertain and may change in the succeeding bulletins.
โข PILANDOK is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm by tomorrow (01 September) and is expected to remain as a tropical storm as it moves towards southern Japan.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
