The Department of the Interior and Local Government - National Capital Region congratulates all seventeen (17) local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region for being recognized as passers of the 2025 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH).

The GFH is a recognition given to LGUs that demonstrate compliance with key indicators on fiscal accountability and transparency. To qualify for the GFH, LGUs must obtain an Unmodified or Qualified audit opinion from the Commission on Audit and comply with the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP) requirements.

DILG National Capital Region, in partnership with the DILG Valenzuela Field Office, facilitated the Preliminary Coordination Meeting with the Interim Team in the City of Valenzuela on June 2, 2026, in relation to the implementation of various plans, programs, and activities (PPAs) under the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP) Localization Program.

The activity was participated by the various offices from the City Government, including the the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), Office of the City Administrator, Sangguniang Panlungsod, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation, Public Information Office (PIO), and Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB). Also present were the civil society organizations namely Rotary Club of Valenzuela, Pederasyon ng mga Samahan para sa Pabahay at Kaunlaran sa Valenzuela (PESAPAKAVA) District I and II, Philippine Guardians Brotherhood, Inc. and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) - Valenzuela Chapter.

The PH-OGP Localization Program is designed to strengthen collaboration between government and civil society and ensure that governance reforms are shaped not only by institutions, but by the people they serve.

Valenzuela, together with Muntinlupa, Pasig and Mandaluyong serve as Cohort Local Government Units (LGUs) under the PH-OGP Localization Program in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The DILG Valenzuela Field Office congratulates the City of Valenzuela, attaining an โ€œIdeal Functionalityโ€ rating in the 2026 Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Functionality Assessment for Performance Year 2025.

This achievement reflects the cityโ€™s commitment to strengthening child protection systems and promoting the rights, welfare, and development of children through responsive and inclusive local governance.

The LCPC Functionality Assessment evaluates the effectiveness of Local Councils for the Protection of Children as community-based institution for efficient and effective implementation of policies, programs and projects on all the major areas of concern for children.

The assessment was conducted by the Regional Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Force - National Capital Region (RIMTF-NCR), composed of representatives from the DILG-NCR, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-NCR), Department of Education (DepEd-NCR), National Nutrition Council (NNC-NCR), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and Philippine Information Agency (PIA-NCR).

April 8, 2026 | Congratulations to Barangay Canumay East, City of Valenzuela for earning a "Very Satisfactory" rating in the 2026 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards under Highly Urbanized City Category, on April 8, 2026. This assessment was validated by the Regional Awards Committee (RAC), consisting of regional representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ), Regional Trial Court, Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC), Liga ng mga Barangay, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and the DILG as the Chairperson.

Prior to this recognition, Barangay Canumay East ranked first in the 2026 LTIA City-Level Assessment, marking its third consecutive year as the top-performing barangay in Valenzuela. The assessment was evaluated by City Awards Committee (CAC).

The LTIA is an annual search which recognizes the outstanding lupong tagapamayapa that adequately demonstrates the ability to judiciously and expeditiously resolve cases referred to them and demonstrate exemplary performance and commendable contribution in the promotion and implementation of Katarungang Pambarangay (KP).

Kudos to Barangay Canumay East and all the lupong tagapamaya in Valenzuela for their invaluable efforts in promoting peaceful conflict resolution and strengthening justice at the grassroots level.

March 26 2026 | Following the successful three day assessment of the citys Best Barangay GAD Implementers the Valenzuela City GAD Focal Point System took the next vital step in strengthening local gender mainstreaming by conducting the Calibration of the CY 2026 Barangay Gender and Development Focal Point System BGFPS On Board.

Anchored on the theme Building Organizational Accountability on Roads to Development this activity served as a strategic follow through to the PY 2025 evaluations. By keeping the BGFPS actively engaged the calibration focused on aligning the barangays GAD plans for the current year utilizing the insights best practices and areas for improvement identified during the recent onsite assessments.

The session emphasized the importance of organizational accountability ensuring that barangay officials and focal persons are equipped to transparently and effectively manage their GAD funds. By bridging the results of the recent assessment with actionable plans for 2026 Valenzuela City continuously empowers its barangays to design sustainable gender responsive programs that build safe progressive and inclusive communities for all.
