Coinciding with the celebration of Women’s Month, the 7th Provincial Rural Improvement Club (RIC) Achievement Day was held during which the Provincial Agricultural Services Office (PASO) reaffirmed its dedication to recognizing women, their ideas, innovations, contributions, and leadership that consistently enhance our world.
This year’s program saw active participation from RIC organizations, inspired by Ms. Anita Tasarra’s message that focused on the essential nature of cooperation in helping women excel in the agri-fisheries sector.
In the afternoon, the event shifts the spotlight to showcase the women’s talents and skills thru various contests such as Search for Outstanding RIC, Singing Contest, and Cooking Demo Contest (Coconut-Based Product).
Members of RIC showcased their exceptional vocal talents in a singing competition, culminating in Ms. Wilma P. Taller from Virac claiming the top prize with her rendition of "Lason mong Halik." Ms. Ma. Teresa Jamisola from Pandan and Ms. Crisaly T. Tubo from Viga secured the titles of first and second runner-up, respectively.
The cooking contest featured RIC members with their exceptional cooking skills and techniques with coconut-based products, where Ms. Magdalena S. Tatad ended up captivating the judges’ culinary tastes with her buko pansit dish. Ms. Leolita T. Valenzuela of Baras and Ms. Charito Matienzo also garnered the second and third prizes with their innovative dishes.
The 2025 Search for Outstanding RIC crowned Virac-Calatagan Proper RIC as the grand winner, with Gigmoto RIC and Baras-San Miguel RIC following closely behind.
The event concluded with Governor Joseph C. Cua’s message as he acknowledged the unwavering dedication and resilience of women in their role in community development, resonating with the theme for this year's Women's Month Celebration.
With their prizes in hand, the participants cheerfully made their way home, taking with them rice, food packs, seeds, seedlings, and a range of agricultural produce.
