The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Catanduanes Provincial Statistical Office
(PSO) conducts August 2026 Monthly Palay and Corn Situation Reporting System (MPCSRS), Rice and Corn Stocks Survey for Household (RCSS:H), and Corn Stocks Survey for Commercial (RCSS:C). The survey aims to update the expected productions for the current quarter based on standing palay and corn for the next quarter based on planting intentions and to provide monthly updates of the areas and productions of palay and corn by stages of growth, i.e., vegetative, reproductive, and maturing. The data collection is scheduled to be conducted from the 1st to the 5th day of each survey month. It will gather key data or updates to production and harvest areas based on
standing crops, as well as updates to actual plantings based on planting intentions.
The MPCSRS is a monitoring survey that tracks the growing conditions and actual plantings of palay and corn. It provides monthly updates on expected production, supplementing the quarterly Palay Production Survey and Corn Production Survey. It
offers timely updates on the area and production levels of palay and corn nationwide. Along with the survey, the Rice and Corn Stocks Survey (RCSS) which is conducted monthly to determine the level of rice and corn stocks held by households and
commercial, providing critical data for assessing the countryโs food supply situation and
policy formulation on pricing and importation.
In our province of Catanduanes, 102 sample households were selected for the Monthly
Palay and Corn Situation Reporting System (MPCSRS), 157 sample households for the
Rice and Corn Stocks Survey for Households (RCSS:H), and 21 sample establishments
for the Rice and Corn Stocks Survey for Commercial (RCSS:C).
The Philippine Statistics Authority โ Catanduanes strongly encourages all sampled palay and corn farming households, and stakeholders to actively participate in the survey by providing timely, truthful and accurate information for data-driven agricultural production in monitoring and planning. In accordance with Section 19 of Republic Act
No. 10173, or the "Data Privacy Act of 2012," all collected information will be kept strictly confidential. Furthermore, Section 26 of Republic Act No. 10625 stipulates that individual data provided to the PSA for statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses are considered privileged communications and cannot be used as evidence in any legal proceedings.
To ensure the quality and reliability of the statistics generated, Chief Statistical Specialist Anavi F. Camacho, encourages all sample respondents to contribute meaningfully to this survey, which will ultimately benefit the broader community by
improving data-driven policy making in the region.
