2021 Labor Day Trabaho Negosyo Kabuhayan Virtual Job Fair

This yearโs Labor Day celebration was anchored on the theme Mayo Uno sa bagong panahon- Manggagawa at Mamamayan Babangon, Susulong! To help the country rise above the challenges brought about by the pandemic, marked with perseverance and resiliency, DOLE 9 conducted series of activities to commemorate its 119th Labor Day celebration.
Among the highlights of the 2021 Labor Day was the conduct of a Virtual and Blended Trabaho, Negosyo Kabuhayan (TNK) Job Fair at KCC Mall de Zamboanga which was participated by 13 local and 7 overseas employers and 2,018 applicants registered. The virtual job fair was in partnership with Jobstreet a job search virtual platform in the Philippines. There were also two hundred sixteen (216) applicants who dropped their applications in the dropped boxes located in KCC Mall. All applications were collected and sent to employers for their screening and interview process. Out of six hundred fifty-seven (657) applicants interviewed, three hundred ninety-four (394) applicants were qualified, one hundred sixty-eight (168) were near hires and seventy-four (74) applicants were hired on the spot.
TESDA was also present during the activity to provide virtual Training for work scholarship program while DTI had a one-on-one Consultancy and Entrepreneurial Services for MSMEs. A total of thirty-nine (39) applicants applied for a training scholarship with TESDA while five (5) jobseekers availed of the one-on-one consultation with DTI.
Another highlight was the turnover of various livelihood starter kits namely, Negokarts, Food preparation, Carpentry and Sewing to 120 beneficiaries together with the awarding of Livelihood check in the amount of P750,525.00 to barangay Baluno held at the Zamboanga Economic Zone, Talisayan, Zamboanga City.
As part of the 2021 Labor Day Celebration conducted last May 1, 2021, 10 employees representing the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council were identified to represent their respective sectors to participate in the symbolic jump start of the vaccination program of government in the region. Sectors being represented are the Women and those from the Informal sector, Fishing and Canning Industry, Manpower and Security, Tourism (Maritime, Hotel and Restaurant, Transportation), Education, Information, Communications and Technology, Wholesale and Retail. Activity was conducted in partnership with the City Health Office of Zamboanga City and the Department of Health 9.
Other activities included in the celebration are the renewal of commitment of the social accord for industrial peace and the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Project HOPE-Adopt a Farm Project.
All undertakings were conducted with strict compliance to IATF guidelines on COVID -19 and are just few of the series of month-long activities which aims to honor the workforce especially our frontliners.-end/ajcb
