Today's meeting between Congresswoman Kat Chua and officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IX was both productive and engaging as they discussed the progress of key environmental initiatives benefiting the First Legislative District of Zamboanga City.

Present during the meeting were DENR Region IX Regional Executive Director Apple Go, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region IX Regional Director Abbas Lao, and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Region IX Regional Director Hernani Abdon.

Congresswoman Kat Chua expressed her gratitude to the visiting officials, commending the DENR family for their commitment to addressing the environmental needs and long-standing concerns of her Zamboangueño constituents. More than 1,700 beneficiaries from different barangays in the First Legislative District successfully received financial assistance through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program. The payout provided much-needed support to individuals and families facing financial hardships, helping them address their immediate and essential needs.

The successful implementation of the program was made possible through the strong collaboration of Assistant Majority Leader Congresswoman Kat Chua and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). This partnership continues to ensure that government assistance reaches those who need it most in a timely and efficient manner.

Congresswoman Chua reminded beneficiaries to use the financial assistance wisely and prioritize their most important household needs. "I encourage everyone to use this assistance for what truly matters may it be food on the table, medicines, your children's education, and other essential daily expenses. We hope this assistance will help ease your burdens and improve your family's well-being," she said.

Committed to making quality healthcare more accessible to the people of the First District, Assistant Majority Leader Congresswoman Kat Chua once again extended a helping hand to a constituent in need by ensuring that Danilo Dalguntas received the life-saving medical care he urgently need.

Danilo Dalguntas of Brillantes Compound, Barangay Sta. Maria, suffered a heart attack and later underwent an angiogram that revealed severe blockages in his coronary arteries. Due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors recommended that he undergo coronary artery bypass surgery.

Through the medical mission in Zamboanga City, Danilo was given the opportunity to undergo the necessary heart bypass surgery at the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC). Following the successful operation, Congresswoman Kat Chua ensured that his hospital bill was reduced to zero, relieving his family of a significant financial burden.

Danilo shared that he only later learned that it was Congresswoman Kat Chua who made his zero-billing assistance possible. Filled with gratitude, he thanked the doctors, nurses, and medical staff of the ZCMC Heart Center for their dedication and compassionate care.

He also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Congresswoman Kat Chua, saying that her support not only eased his family's financial burden but also gave him what he considers a second chance at life, a kindness he will always remember. 🧡🧡🧡

Today, Congresswoman Kat Chua joins the opening of the Second Regular Session of the 20th Congress, marking a new chapter in her legislative service to Zamboangueños.

The early session is conducted in preparation for the Fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of His Excellency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., during the Joint Session of both Houses of Congress.
