Persons with special needs showed their amazing skills in swimming, athletics, badminton, chess, goal ball, and sitting volleyball at the Paragames De Zamboanga 2026, which was held at the Mayor Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex on August 19, 2026.

The journey of the 1st to the 3rd Paragames de Zamboanga and the amazing differently abled athletes who made it all possible. Every moment shows that ability has no limits. With courage, talent, and a strong spirit, these athletes turned challenges into success. They proved that real strength comes from the heart, and everyone deserves a chance to shine and follow their dreams.

The 4th Paragames de Zamboanga 2026 took place on August 19, 2026, at the Mayor Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex.

We were honored to have special guests join the opening ceremony: Anna Ruiz from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC); Marlon “Bong” Simbajon, CMO Executive Assistant; Vice Mayor Beng Climaco, Acting City Mayor; Councilor Joel Esteban; Councilor Elbert “Bong” Atilano; and Ma. Socorro Rojas, City Social Welfare and Development Officer.

The opening was filled with energy, pride, and inspiration. The athletes showed great heart and strong will as they took part in the opening program. It was a wonderful start to what was an amazing celebration of ability, sportsmanship, and unity.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) conducted an ocular inspection of the venues that will be used for the city’s upcoming hosting of the 3rd ROTC Games Mindanao Leg. They also met with Sports Development Officers and Councilor Elbert “Bong” Atilano, Sr. to ensure everything is ready for the upcoming events.

This is a great opportunity for our city to promote sports tourism, while ensuring that ROTC athletes and coaches have safe and proper facilities to use.

When PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio visited Zamboanga, he pledged support for grassroots lifters at the Hidilyn Diaz Weightlifting Gym. That promise was kept the PSC officially turned over new sets of weights to the facility.

There was so much energy, teamwork, and friendly competition. Zamboanga City Government employees left their desks and went to the court for the Sports, Fitness & Recreation Program last August 14, 2026. Staff from different departments proudly wore their team colors, cheered for one another, and smiled all throughout the exciting games.

The City Swimming Pool will be closed on August 17, 2026 for general cleaning and maintenance work. Regular operations will resume on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
