A significant milestone in the coconut industry of Zamboanga Sibugay was marked today with the 𝑪𝑬𝑹𝑬𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑰𝑨𝑳 𝑻𝑼𝑹𝑵𝑶𝑽𝑬𝑹 𝑶𝑭 𝑻𝑯𝑬 ₱𝟐.𝟓-𝑴𝑰𝑳𝑳𝑰𝑶𝑵 𝑪𝑶𝑪𝑶𝑵𝑼𝑻 𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑪𝑬𝑺𝑺𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑭𝑨𝑪𝑰𝑳𝑰𝑻𝒀 𝑶𝑭 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑨𝑳𝑰𝑪𝑰𝑨 𝑵𝑬𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑩𝑶𝑹𝑯𝑶𝑶𝑫 𝑴𝑼𝑳𝑻𝑰𝑷𝑼𝑹𝑷𝑶𝑺𝑬 𝑪𝑶𝑶𝑷𝑬𝑹𝑨𝑻𝑰𝑽𝑬 (𝑨𝑳𝑵𝑬𝑴𝑷𝑪𝑶), supported under the 𝑫𝑻𝑰 𝑹𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒈𝒓𝒐-𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒕𝒉 (𝑹𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑫 𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒕𝒉) 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕 through the 𝒁𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂 𝑺𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒈𝒂𝒚 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕.

The ceremony featured the blessing of the facility, ribbon-cutting, and the formal turnover and acceptance of the Key of Responsibility, symbolizing not only the completion of a productive investment but also the continuing journey of ALNEMPCO toward greater growth, sustainability, and shared prosperity.

The activity was graced by the inspirational messages of 𝐷𝑇𝐼-𝐼𝑋 𝑅𝑒𝑔𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝐷𝑖𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟 𝐸𝑛𝑔𝑟. 𝐴𝑙-𝑍𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑟 𝐼. 𝐿𝑖𝑝𝑎𝑒 and 𝐷𝑇𝐼-𝑍𝑎𝑚𝑏𝑜𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑎 𝑆𝑖𝑏𝑢𝑔𝑎𝑦 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝐷𝑖𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟 𝑀𝑎. 𝑅𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑒 𝐿. 𝑀𝑎𝑛𝑧𝑎𝑛𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑠, who highlighted the importance of strengthening local enterprises and building inclusive value chains that create opportunities for farmers and their organizations.

In return, ALNEMPCO’s 𝐶𝒉𝑎𝑖𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛 𝑀𝑟. 𝐶𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑜 𝐵𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑛𝑔𝒉𝑖𝑛𝑜𝑔 and 𝑉𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝐶𝒉𝑎𝑖𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛 𝑀𝑟. 𝐴𝑙𝑓𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝐶𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑎ñ𝑒𝑡𝑜 expressed the cooperative’s heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the DTI and the RAPID Growth Project for the continued support, guidance, and partnership that have contributed to the cooperative’s growth and development.

From being one of the 𝑭𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝑶𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 beneficiaries assisted by the RAPID Growth Project, ALNEMPCO has steadily grown into an 𝑨𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒓 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒎 in the coconut value chain, now establishing linkages and opening opportunities for newly engaged farmer organizations. Its journey is a testament to what can be achieved through sustained partnership, capacity-building, commitment, and strategic investments.

Adding further momentum to this journey is the approval of additional investments for ALNEMPCO, paving the way for expanded operations, stronger market linkages, improved productivity, and greater opportunities for its farmer partners.

The day also offered a glimpse of what lies ahead as the team visited ALNEMPCO’s new and extended processing area in Brgy. Ilisan, where the cooperative’s additional investment for a pre-processing facility will soon be established. This expansion marks another step forward in strengthening ALNEMPCO’s capacity and creating greater opportunities for the coconut industry. 💙💚

The training aimed to equip the participants with enhanced knowledge and practical skills on sustainable calamansi production and post-harvest management, preparing them to serve as trainers and knowledge multipliers within their respective communities.
The TOT featured a combination of learning sessions, field demonstrations, and workshop activities covering the full calamansi value chain—from production to post-harvest management. This holistic and market-oriented approach seeks to strengthen not only farm productivity but also the quality, handling, and marketability of calamansi products.

Following the TOT, a series of cascading and re-echo training activities will be conducted in the coming weeks, wherein the trained participants will share and transfer their learnings to farmer groups in their respective communities.

Through this approach, RAPID Growth Project continues to strengthen the capacity of its stakeholders and promote the value chain approach—creating a ripple effect of knowledge, skills, and opportunities from the trainers to the farming communities they serve. 🌱🤝

The two-day capacity-building activities featured learning sessions on the principles, utilization, and field application of Biological Control Agents (BIOCON) for sustainable crop protection.

By equipping farmers with knowledge and practical skills on the use of biofertilizers and biological control agents, the training promotes more sustainable crop production practices, strengthens farm-level productivity, and contributes to the long-term resilience and competitiveness of the coconut value chain.

🌙 𝑅𝒜𝒫𝐼𝒟 𝐻𝒜𝐿𝒜𝐿 𝒞𝐸𝑅𝒯𝐼𝐹𝐼𝒞𝒜𝒯𝐼𝒪𝒩 𝒞𝒜𝑅𝒜𝒱𝒜𝒩

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region IX, through the RAPID Growth Project, successfully conducted the RAPID Halal Certification Caravan – First Assessment and Inspection on August 4–6, 2026, as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen the Halal readiness, competitiveness, and market access of Farmer Organizations (FOs) and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.

The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Bangsamoro Provincial Consultative Council, headed by Mr. Amjad Calib, who served as the consultant/certifying body during the assessment and inspection.

Joining the activity were DTI Region IX Regional Halal Focal Ar-Chadee Bahjin, RAPID Regional Marketing Coordinator Sherwin A. Tuble, and RAPID Zamboanga del Norte Value Chain Facilitator Ericson Mier, who supported the assessment, coordination, and facilitation of the participating beneficiaries.

The first assessment and inspection covered the following RAPID-assisted FOs and MSMEs:

Through the Halal Certification Caravan, participating enterprises were provided with guidance and initial assessment on their compliance with Halal requirements and standards. The activity aims to help beneficiaries improve their processes, strengthen product quality and integrity, and prepare their enterprises for Halal certification and expanded market opportunities.

The initiative underscores the commitment of DTI Region IX and the RAPID Growth Project to empowering local FOs and MSMEs by providing technical assistance and facilitating access to emerging and high-value markets.

𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟗–𝟑𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 | 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚, 𝐙𝐒𝐏

The RAPID Growth Project Provincial Coordinating Unit of Zamboanga Sibugay conducted a Benchmarking Activity with Skills/Technical Training on Standard Quality Management for Copra and Whole Nuts in collaboration with the Alicia Neighborhood Multipurpose Cooperative (ALNEMPCO).

This forms part of the project’s capacity-building interventions intended for the officers and coconut farmer-members of the four (4) newly engaged Farmer Organizations in Payao who are also the beneficiaries of the proposed 3km Farm-to-Market Road in Brgy. Mt. View, Payao, ZSP.

This two-day activity specifically provided participants with the opportunity to learn from ALNEMPCO’s proven good practices in coconut production, quality management, enterprise operations, and cooperative development.

More importantly, this activity showcased the strong collaboration of the RAPID Growth Project with ALNEMPCO and LGU Payao—not only as RAPID project beneficiaries, but also as industry enablers committed to a shared mission of improving the lives and livelihoods of individual smallholder farmers in the coconut industry.

𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟵–𝟯𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝘀

The RAPID Growth Project Provincial Coordinating Unit of Zamboanga Sibugay conducted a 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀/𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝘀 in collaboration with the Alicia Neighborhood Multipurpose Cooperative (ALNEMPCO).

This forms part of the project’s capacity-building interventions intended for the officers and coconut farmer-members of the four (4) newly engaged Farmer Organizations in Payao: 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 (𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗢𝗙𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗖𝗢), 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗿𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗼 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 (𝗦𝗜𝗣𝗠𝗣𝗖), 𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻; who are also the beneficiaries of the proposed 3km Farm-to-Market Road in Brgy. Mt. View, Payao, ZSP. This two-day activity specifically provided participants with the opportunity to learn from ALNEMPCO’s proven good practices in coconut production, quality management, enterprise operations, and cooperative development.

More importantly, this activity showcased the strong collaboration of the RAPID Growth Project with ALNEMPCO and LGU Payao—not only as RAPID project beneficiaries, but also as industry enablers committed to a shared mission of improving the lives and livelihoods of individual smallholder farmers in the coconut industry.

📢 Empowering Cacao Farmers, Strengthening Communities! 🌱🍫

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region IX, through the RAPID Growth Project, successfully conducted the Distribution of Farming Tools to Cacao Farmer Organization (FO) Beneficiaries in Zamboanga del Norte, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the region's cacao industry and improving the productivity and livelihoods of smallholder farmers.

The ceremonial distribution was led by Engr. Al-Zamir I. Lipae, Regional Director of DTI Region IX, together with Ms. Raymunda Biolango, Chief of the Business Development Division. The event was also attended by representatives from the Regional Coordinating Unit (RCU) and the Provincial Coordinating Unit (PCU) of Zamboanga del Norte. Engr. Lorrymir S. Adasa, Municipal Mayor of Mutia, likewise expressed his support for the RAPID Growth Project and commended the beneficiary farmer organizations for their dedication to advancing the local cacao industry.

The distribution of farming tools is a key intervention under the Regional Cacao Detailed Investment Plan (DIP) of the RAPID Growth Project, which aims to enhance farm productivity by providing farmer organizations with the equipment they need to improve production efficiency, adopt better farming practices, and increase the quality and competitiveness of locally produced cacao.

The beneficiary farmer organizations are:

🌿 People's Officials, Employee & Community Multi-purpose Cooperative (POEMCO)
🌿 Barcelona Innovative Cacao Growers Agriculture Cooperative (BICAGROW)
🌿 Mutia Cacao Small Coconut Farmers Agricultural Cooperative (MUCASCOFACO)

In his message, Regional Director Engr. Al-Zamir I. Lipae encouraged the beneficiaries to maximize the use of the farming tools, ensure their proper maintenance, and continue working together to improve productivity and produce high-quality cacao. He emphasized that through collaboration, innovation, and responsible stewardship of the assistance provided, farmer organizations can build more resilient enterprises and create lasting economic opportunities for their communities.

The ceremonial turnover symbolizes the strong partnership among DTI Region IX, the Regional Coordinating Unit, the Provincial Coordinating Unit of Zamboanga del Norte, local government partners, and the beneficiary farmer organizations in advancing inclusive and sustainable agricultural development. More than the distribution of farming tools, the initiative reflects DTI's continuing commitment to empowering farmers, strengthening the cacao value chain, and fostering inclusive economic growth across the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The RAPID Growth Project – PCU Zamboanga del Sur conducted the Administrative Skills Development Workshop on July 14–15, 2026, at Pagadian Bay Plaza Hotel, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur. The activity was participated in by eight (8) farmer organizations under the ZAMBOSUR Coconut Value Chain Detailed Investment Plan (DIP).

The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Khareen Gay B. Cuevas of Bootstrap Business Consultancy Services, who shared practical knowledge and techniques on strengthening administrative systems, records management, documentation, communication, and office organization. The activity equipped participating farmer organizations with essential administrative skills to improve their daily operations, maintain organized records, and support the effective implementation of their enterprises.

Together, we continue to empower farmer organizations by building strong management systems that contribute to inclusive and sustainable rural enterprise development.
