The Home for the Elderly warmly welcomed Assistant Secretary for Community Engagement Ulysses Hermogenes C. Aguilar and Crisis Intervention Program Director Lea B. Bangalan during their meaningful visit to the Center. They were accompanied by DSWD Field Office IX Assistant Regional Director for Operations, Dir. Sitti Aisa T. Askalani.

The visit provided an opportunity to witness firsthand the programs, services, and daily life of our senior residents, while strengthening our shared commitment to promoting their dignity, well-being, protection, and quality of life.

Sa ikalawang sesyon ng upang talakayin ang Pagpapahalaga Sa Sarili, muling nagtagpo ang dalawang henerasyon para sa isang makabuluhan, masaya, at makulay na paglalakbay tungo sa pagmamahal sa sarili at pagkakaroon ng kumpiyansa sa sarili.โœจ

Sa pamamagitan ng kwentuhan, mga tanong na nagpapaisip, kuwentong โ€œAng Mahiyain na Manok,โ€ at masayang Fishing Game, natutunan ng ating mga bata na ang pagiging confident ay hindi nangangahulugang walang takot. Ito ay ang pagkakaroon ng lakas ng loob na kilalanin ang sarili, maniwala sa sariling kakayahan, at subukang muli kahit minsan ay nagdududa. ๐ŸŒป Nagkaroon din ng Cross-Matching Worksheet ang mga bata upang itugma ang mga kagamitang panlinis sa tamang bahagi ng katawan.

Masigla at organisado ang naging aktibidad ng DSWD Project Apo Ko sa isinagawang Capability Building on the Use of Apo Ko Session Guidebook and Journal para mga kalahok mula sa Home for the Elderly sa Zamboanga City nitong ika-21 hanggang ika-23 ng Hulyo 2026. Sa pamumuno ng Bureau Director ng DSWD Social Technology Bureau, Dir. Marilyn B. Moral, matagumpay na naidaos ang aktibidad sa nasabing rehiyon.

Ang ating mga lolo at lola, mga kinatawan at katuwang sa proyekto ang nagsanay gamit ang Enhanced Apo Ko Session Guide upang linangin ang kanilang kaalaman at paghusayin pa ang kanilang kakayahan sa paggamit nito.

A Commitment to Safe and Quality Care for Our Elderly Clients โค๏ธ

The Center Development Office Director IV, Ms. Rowela F. Hizon, together with Ms. Jocelyn N. Mercado, National Inspectorate Division Chief, personally visited the DSWD Home for the Elderly.

During the visit, they commended the ongoing construction of resident's quarters for its adherence to Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) safety standards, highlighting the importance of providing a safe, secure, and appropriate living environment for our elderly residents.

This initiative reflects the DSWDโ€™s continuing commitment to ensuring that our centers and residential care facilities meet the necessary standards while prioritizing the safety, dignity, comfort, and well-being of every client we serve. โค

At the Home for the Elderly, every improvement is a step toward creating a safer and more caring home for our beloved Lolo and Lola.

The activity was facilitated by the personnel of the ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก โ€“ ๐™๐š๐ฆ๐›๐จ๐š๐ง๐ ๐š ๐๐ž๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐š ๐‚๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ, ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐„๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐ ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ฒ ๐Œ๐š๐ง๐š๐ ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐’๐ญ๐š๐Ÿ๐Ÿ (๐ƒ๐Ž๐‡-๐‡๐„๐Œ๐’) and was actively participated in by HFE personnel.

The training provided participants with essential knowledge and practical skills on the principles of first aid, bandaging techniques, fracture management, proper lifting and transfer methods, and emergency response. Through lectures, demonstrations, and competency-based practical assessments, the participants strengthened their capability to provide immediate and appropriate care during emergencies.

At the culmination of the training, participants were awarded Certificates of Completion in recognition of their successful participation and commitment to continuous learning. The knowledge and skills acquired from this training are expected to further enhance the delivery of quality care and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the senior citizen residents of the Home for the Elderly.

In Photos | Home for the Elderly Joins the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED)

Today June 18, 2026, the DSWD Field Office IX โ€“ Home for the Elderly actively participated in the 2nd Quarter NSED, demonstrating its commitment to disaster preparedness and ensuring the safety and well-being of our beloved senior residents and staff.

At 9:00 a.m., participants responded to the sounding alarm by performing the standard earthquake safety protocol, โ€œDrop, Cover, and Hold,โ€ demonstrating proper response during simulated ground shaking. Following the drill, all personnel and residents proceeded in an orderly manner to the designated evacuation assembly areas for headcount, accountability, and further instructions.

Through this, the center strengthened awareness and reinforced the importance of preparedness, proper response, and coordination during emergencies. Together, we continue to build a culture of safety and resilience for everyone.
