The Information and Communications Technology–Business Process Management (ICT-BPM) Council convened a meeting to discuss upcoming events of the Zamboanga Information and Communications Technology (ZICT) Group and explore future collaborations between the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the City Government of Zamboanga through the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Services (LEDIPS) Office.

The meeting was presided over by Councilor Kim Villaflores and Rosendo Castillo III, with the participation of representatives from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), DICT, Zamboanga Economic Zone, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), ZICT, Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and other partner agencies and stakeholders.

The City Government of Zamboanga successfully welcomed the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Business Mission to Zamboanga City from September 6–8, 2026, providing a platform to strengthen trade, investment and business linkages between Malaysian delegates and the local business sector. The delegation was led by Mr. Jacob Lee Chok Kok, President of FMM, with Ms. Norjamin Delos Reyes, Commercial Counsellor of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center–Kuala Lumpur.

The three-day mission featured a Welcome Dinner at Alavar Restaurant, a Courtesy Visit and Closed-Door Executive Trade Session with Mayor Khymer Olaso, a visit to the Zamboanga Economic Zone, and a B2B Matching and Networking Session at the Grand Astoria Hotel attended by key business stakeholders in the city. The activities also included the Mayor’s Night at The Farm Alavar.

The mission concluded on September 8, with Mayor Khymer Olaso personally accompanying the delegation to the airport for their departure, signifying the City Government’s commitment to fostering investment and economic ties between Zamboanga City and Malaysia.

Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Services (LEDIPS) through LEDIPO Rosendo N. Castillo III, in coordination with Computer Division Head Alan Aizon is working on the development and integration of the Investment Page into the City’s official website and eGov platform.

This initiative will provide investors with accessible and reliable information to support informed investment decisions in Zamboanga City.

The Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Services (LEDIPS) spearheaded the Investment Incentive Board Meeting on August 24, 2026, presided over by Mayor Khymer Olaso, Chairperson of the Board, and represented by Chief of Staff Celso Lobregat and Mr. Rosendo N. Castillo III the Executive Assistant and Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer.

The meeting brought together representatives from various government offices and private sector organizations, including the Office of the Vice Mayor, City Council, ZCCCIFI, DOLE, IGZI, HRAZ, BIMP-EAGA, Licensing Office, City Treasurer’s Office, and City Planning and Development Office.

Key agenda include LEDIPS plans for the year, updates on the Investment Code, and upcoming investment-related events and activities, aimed at strengthening coordination and advancing Zamboanga City’s investment promotion initiatives.

The Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) School of Business Administration successfully held its Soft Launch at KCC Mall de Zamboanga on August 20, 2026 , marking its five years of growth, academic excellence, and commitment to entrepreneurship education. The activity brought together BS Entrepreneurship students, faculty, staff, and university officials.

The Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Service (LEDIPS), together with our Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer (LEDIPO) proudly supported the event and its efforts to provide meaningful opportunities for students to strengthen their entrepreneurial skills and contribute to local economic development.
