The classroom gave them the language of public service; now, beyond its walls, they are preparing to give those lessons a life of their own.
Organized by the ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ง๐๐จ ๐๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ (๐๐๐๐) ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ข๐๐ฌ, the ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐๐๐) ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ gathered on ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐, at the ๐๐๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ for a ๐ฉ๐ซ๐-๐๐๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฒ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง that marked the beginning of their transition from academic learning to professional service. ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐๐๐ฅ, ๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐,โ the event focused on equipping students with the discipline, ethics, and competence expected of future government professionals, while providing them with an avenue for professional formation and reflection as they prepare to enter the field.
The program began through welcome remarks and an orientation rationale from Asst. Prof. Cedrick S. Zabala, BPA Department Head, and an inspirational message from WMSU President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena. From there, the discussions moved from preparation to practice, covering the deployment plan, 100-hour requirement, professional conduct, public service ethics, workplace safety, confidentiality, data privacy, and workplace boundaries.
Yet crossing into the professional world requires more than knowing what to expect in the workplace. Students were also briefed on the academic responsibilities that will accompany their deployment, including assessments, portfolio preparation, case analysis, and final presentation. Together, the sessions gave them a clearer sense of the standards they must meet as interns and as future public servants.
Before taking that next step, an open forum allowed students to clarify concerns and expectations regarding their deployment. The introduction of the batch name and the ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง, led by BPA student intern Precious Pearl Flores, then gave the event a symbolic weight, as students affirmed their commitment to the values and responsibilities of the profession they aspire to join.
As the orientation came to a close, the doors to the next chapter were no longer merely in sight, for they were ready to be opened. With that, the practicum represents a first step beyond the classroom, where knowledge must become action, principles must become practice, and preparation must become public service.
