In observance of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons every 30th of July, the PFDAโZamboanga Fish Port Complex (ZFPC), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System, conducted a GAD Short Lecture on Anti-Trafficking in Persons on 27 July 2026.
The lecture was facilitated by Ms. Ma. Lorena B. Salisali, Fishery Market Operations Supervisor I (FMOS I) and GAD Focal Point System Member, who discussed the link between human trafficking and gender inequality, emphasizing how discrimination, poverty, and unequal opportunities make individuals more vulnerable to exploitation.
Participants were also introduced to the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons theme, โTrapped Behind the Scam,โ which highlights the growing use of deceptive online schemes, fraudulent job offers, and other forms of recruitment that traffickers use to lure victims. In addition, Ms. Salisali presented key highlights of the Global Gender Gap Report 2025, underscoring the importance of advancing gender equality as a vital step in preventing trafficking and protecting vulnerable sectors.
The activity served as a timely reminder for personnel to remain vigilant, recognize the warning signs of trafficking, and become advocates for the protection of human rights and the promotion of gender equality within the workplace and the community.
A total of 42 personnel, composed of 16 females and 26 males, participated in the lecture.
Together, let us continue to build a workplace and community that values freedom, dignity, equality, and respect for all.
